This is an entrance randomizer designed by mzxrules. It takes every entrance/load zone and randomizes it to take you to a different location. So, entering the Deku Tree can take you to Gerudo Fortress as an example. The seed that randomizes the entrances is generated based on your filename.

This thread is checked once a week on average by the admins. kirkq last checked it a few days ago, so it should be around 4-5 days before he checks it again.

If you get the video off the phone, you could just play it back in OBS/XSplit and put the timer in the layout then local record with the video playback + timer.

(Requiring visible timers for runs is so lame)

gv-usb2 is the best out there for standard def capture plus its not too expensive. Really can’t go wrong with it.

OOT Beta Quest has an LB but it’s based on set seeds. Technically ALTTPR could do something similar, but it would probably be better suited for the Extension board and it probably wouldn’t be that good of a category.
My reason for this post is to hopefully create a speed running event that will allow many other new, emerging and current runners to not feel threatened in their craft. I believe that every runner should have the ability to provide whatever commentary they wish, without the fear of retaliation.
The fact that you think runners at GDQ are threatened in some way is laughable. Nobody is threatened as a runner, I don’t know how you even think that.

Also, GDQ limits commentary to PG-13. That means, no overly excessive cursing (contrary to popular belief, dropping an accidental curse does not get you banned), and nothing overly inappropriate. If a runner can’t censor themselves to a PG-13 level for a GDQ run then that’s their own problem because most professional places have rules like that. And yes, when you’re on camera at GDQ you have to be professional. Goof around off camera all you want.

Most marathons including RPGLB and I believe ESA all have similar rules on on stream behavior, it’s not like this is a foreign concept. I know NASA has a less strict approach and if that’s what you’re looking for then that’s probably the event for you, but most events try to keep it mostly respectable in terms of dialogue and commentary.

If that’s one of your main points for why runners would feel “threatened”, then that is a weak point. Hundreds of runners have controlled themselves enough to do runs at GDQ and most runners are fine with following that rule because they want to put on a good showcase and that is harder to do if you turn away viewers with nonstop cursing or other inappropriate dialogue.

Again, I’m not saying GDQ doesn’t have its problems, but you’re not outlining any actual problems so far.
and many more become banned for generally stupid and draconian reasons
You’re acting as if tons of people are banned every event. The amount of people actually banned is very small. This is not a large issue. Also, some of the people you named aren’t even banned, they just received temporary punishment like not being able to submit games for a couple years, but can still attend.
We as a community should stand up and create a better speed running event.
People have already created other events. Events like ESA and NASA are growing a lot and are attracting more and more people to their events. Even some of your mentioned people have attended these events. I also feel like it’s worth pointing out that at least one of your mentioned people got themselves banned from multiple streaming websites including Twitch in the past. Maybe not entirely relevant, but it’s not like GDQ is the only place handing out punishment in some cases (see above re: this is not a large issue).

My main problem with this post is the attitude you’re taking that GDQ is like this horrible evil entity. It’s not. Every year people make posts like this taking about how horrible the event is when in reality they are blowing a couple isolated incidents out of proportion. GDQ is not perfect, but it still maxes out it attendance in record time every event for a reason - it’s still a great place to see friends you don’t see very often.

If you want to create a new event, then go for it. But to act like GDQ needs to be overthrown or to state that the speedrunning community “deserves better” is just lame. If GDQ was as awful as posts like this make it sound, nobody would go. I’m sorry if a few streamers you like got banned, and you might even disagree with the reasons (I’ve disagreed with bans in the past). But regardless, acting like GDQ is a source of evil is just so silly.
so no pee breaks
Yeah, nah. A rule that is harmful to your health like this should be a no-go. You can’t just not use the bathroom for long periods of time (if you claim you don’t have to go then you’re not drinking nearly enough, which is important for long runs).

If you can’t trust someone to have their TV off while doing blindfolded like RG and others do, and keep them on the honor system to not peek, then I wouldn’t do blindfolded runs.

@blueYOSHI they didn’t specifically say they meant to capitalize anything, just that they misclicked a letter. If you want a whole different letter, you won’t be able to change it for 60 days.

That being said, the Admins sometimes notice these types of threads and will change it for you to bypass the wait period since it was a mistake. So, post the correct name you’re looking for here and if they see it, they’ll probably assist you.

Yeah, a decent HDMI capture card will be $100-$150 USD (closer to $150) easy. A 3DS capture card will be even more, as in a couple hundred of dollars.

As an aside, the capture cards you’re talking about capture component inputs, something the Switch doesn’t output.

I’m curious what the issue you’re taking about is for this game. It looks like to me the community around STK has a pretty good handle on the game’s development and has set up their LBs to accommodate the versions with major changes. The LB doesn’t look messy or anything. It doesn’t look like there’s any issue. If you have a concern, I’d definitely voice it to the mods as they’ll probably be able to offer more answers than us “outside” users.

I don’t know of any ROM hacks that change or update themselves very drastically - most will only release it when the hack is complete and not add content to it incrementally. In the off case this does happen, the LBs will usually do what STK did and create a separate category for the previous, unfinished version. A version that has simple graphical boosts it has changed that doesn’t impact gameplay won’t be tracked because it changes nothing to the gameplay.

This is the same user from Melon’s post 2 up from here https://www.speedrun.com/user/MilanGinocchi

This is also his like 7th or 8th account (he’s ban evading pretty hard).

It says how to do it right on the page of the website
Save your splits to a file using your favorite splitting program, then drag that file anywhere on this page.
I’ve never used llanfair so I don’t know a lot about the interface, but I’d assume a right click should reveal some kind of save option (plus I’m assuming you’ve saved them before if you’ve done multiple runs or PB’d before).

The Pokemon community doesn’t have any rules listed that you need to be in their discord to submit runs (granted I only checked a few of the more popular games), and honestly, no game should reject a run for that reason.

If a community is rejecting runs from people who aren’t involved in the community in some way, that’s grounds to report the mods to site staff imo. No mods should be that exclusive, it would stifle any new people from submitting runs if they think the mods only accept runs from people they know/recognize.

That being said, some games have emulator specific rules or specific rules regarding video proof so make sure to follow those rules before submitting.

This has been brought up a lot in the past as a way to add in LBs for Category Extensions and other LBs for that fall under the same game (for a game like KH1 which has multiple releases, instead of multiple games it would be one game with multiple LBs under it).

So, you’re not the first to think of this or want it. Last I heard it’s a long term goal for the site to implement something like this.

...how is this faster than the usual FPG? You finish with 335 left, WR finishes with 369 left. You’ve lost a lot of frame rules doing it this way. Not to mention you finish as Big Mario which has implications for the following Level(s).

Plus, this has been known for a very long time, if it was faster, it would have been done a long time ago.
