You should check out the pinned post in this forum, it’s a good starting point for getting into streaming.

Wine is a program that allows you to run Windows programs on Mac. And timers only automatically start if you have an autosplitter for the game in LiveSplit. Like my previous post said, I’m pretty sure that it probably won’t work if you can’t run LiveSplit natively. You could double check with the Minecraft community though.

You need to contact the mods of Minecraft or check the rules for the game/category to see if a timer is required. As for a Mac, you can run LiveSplit in Wine (although I’m not sure any autosplitters would work if the game has those) or you could try LiveSplitOne which is a browser based version of the timer. There is also Llanfair, although that isn’t widely used anymore.

You don't need to bump a thread that is this recent.

More than likely, you're not going to find a random person who an make you and autosplitter script. Doing that involves a decent amount of knowledge in the game, so it's not usually something an random person can do for you.

I know this isn’t a bot but idk a better place or way to report an account for trolling or making intentional “spam” posts (not to mention they have been attacking the SM64 forums it appears based on their recent posts). Let me know if there’s a a better or preferred way to report an account like this in the future

While I've never done this myself, I'm pretty sure it's done by opening a PR (Pull Request) into the main LiveSplit repo on GitHub from your fork of it with your autosplitter in it. Once the PR is approved, it'll be in the main LiveSplit repo where it should work for your game once it's included in the next release. More information can be found at the official documentation.

If none of this makes sense to you, I'd recommend finding someone from your community for the game (probably the person who wrote the autosplitter) to take care of this for you - I'm assuming that whoever wrote the autosplitter is tech-savvy enough to understand how to use GitHub, forks and PRs.

(Please correct me if there's anyone who's done this themselves or knows better than I do).

The process for using my preferred solution is: You need to build an input display that works with RetroSpy, or have one commissioned to be built for you, then you download RetroSpy and simply run the program with the input display plugged.
You can't splice an attempt preformed live
I see this said a lot and I don’t know where this misconception comes from. Splicing is absolutely possible on a live-streamed attempt. Nothing stops someone from playing back a spliced run on stream and pretending to play the game, people have done this before.

I would recommend a gv-usb2 capture card. It’ll run you about $45 USD but it’s easily the best standard def capture card out there. It’s a Japanese product so it’s driver install is done in Japanese but there are numerous guides out there that walk you through it (it’s only 2 button clicks).

Yes, you will need OBS or some other broadcasting software like XSplit if you want to both build scenes with video, splits and any other sources you want and If you want to record/stream your content. OBS is by far the most popular and I would recommend using that considering it’s also free to use.

Disable your ad blocker (or better yet all extensions you may have installed) and see if it reappears. This is a known bug that happens with some ad blockers or other browser extensions.

 1. The choice to record runs is up to you. There’s no rule that says you have to record every run nor is there a rule that says you have to submit every run you do. If you want to do X number of runs for practice or to get some times to compare against, that’s your choice.

 2. Streaming is usually never required (aside from maybe very edge cases, the game rules would specify this).

Good luck and have fun.

I would recommend creating a discord account for yourself. Discord is a hugely popular way to contact communities and mods of a game; most people won’t be willing to contact mods on your behalf, you’re better off doing it yourself.

I don’t believe so no. I believe those are emulator save states and to my knowledge you can’t import emulator save states into gz for Wii VC since it just patches a WAD.

An OSSC is only used if you’re trying to capture the PS2 into an HDMI capture card. A PS2 outputs composite or s-video so you can use any run of the mill standard definition capture card - that handles 480i input - to get the video (with varying degrees of quality of course).

There is a forum section dedicated to streaming and recording, I would go check out the stickied post in that forum as it has a lot of information and post there if you have any follow up questions regarding equipment or anything like that.

You need to enable your Past Broadcasts be saved. You can find this in your Settings on Twitch. That will preserve the VOD for 14 days, at which time you can highlight whatever part of it you want to and then it’ll stay on your profile beyond that.

I believe Twitch has an automatic export that can move your VODs to your YouTube if you connect the two but I’ve personally never used it. I locally record my runs and upload videos to YouTube from there. Alternatively, you can use a program to download your videos from Twitch and then you have free reign to do what you want with them (I used youtube-dl for this, but I’ve also used Twitch Ripper in the past as well).

This site just hosts links to videos, as long as you have a video link that’s watchable then it should be fine, but always check the rules of the games you’re running or with the mods of the games to make sure they have no special rules or restrictions.

Have you communicated this to the community for the game? Posting it here is probably going to get little to no traction/notice. If you’re looking for other runners and interest you should probably reach out to the community for the game itself (you might have already done this but just wanted to mention it).
