The rules for glitchless ban the ability to go west without Epona's song. The bomb jump with goron was half-patched by the devs, and the use of them with enemies were banned because it was clear the devs wanted to patch it. Long Jumps are another disallowed glitch technique that would allow access to Great Bay Early, but due to how broken they are in Majora's Mask 3D (they move you super far), they would create a substantially different run on their own.
Hi there,
Both the use of the seam in Termina Field and targeting of the feather statue from below are not allowed in the rules. As the person who made the route for this category, it is possible under the ruleset we have to complete MM3D in 2 3-day cycles like the n64 version of the game. However, due to the change to the Inverted Song of Time, which only now halves the flow of time compared to n64 cutting the flow of time to one-third of normal, it is slower to do so.
The big bottleneck to finishing this in one cycle is acquiring Epona's Song, as you must still be on the first day to talk to Romani, complete her minigame, and then relearn the song. Due to the change in ISoT, it no longer is possible to complete Snowhead Temple in a single trip, and still have enough time to get this song. Thus, one would need to enter Snowhead Temple, get the Fire Arrows, leave, and then acquire the Powder Keg. The main timeloss here is splitting up Snowhead Temple, which is much, much slower than just playing song of time one additional time. The route has essentially been optimized to use the additional Song of Time, such as making it day 2 very early, and the cycle reset removes the gold dust from the bottle, allowing us to complete Great Bay immediately thereafter.
We'd need quite a few people who'd like to run such a long category in order for it to be added to the leaderboards. As of right now, we don't have anybody else other than you ask about 100% glitchless for a run. So unfortunately we can't do that. You can still put your runs under 100% even with the glitchless ruleset still.
A lot of people who run this game aren't fond of the White Rabbit star in any capacity. To do the fastest 150 star run, you need the U.S. version 1.0 to execute the glitch that skips every other rabbit. Otherwise it's an RNG grind to get 8 rabbits (even though Korean might be the best possible version in that instance). So why not have a run that doesn't do it in the miscellaneous section? I'm in the minority of people and I actually like 150 star. Every other star is really fun to do, so why not have this for people who run on VC and/or don't want to deal with the white rabbits?
Two big reasons why we did not add MQ Any% to the leaderboards:
- There was no interest with the category for a very long time, including myself who originally started playing on MQ for this game,
- The two MQ categories currently on the leaderboards can be highly distinguished from vanilla OoT3D categories. MQ Any%'s biggest difference now at least is the bombchus early route, before that the route was exactly the same for a very long time. In addition, Jabu chus are slower for MQ Any% as well. If we were to add MQ Any% to the leaderboards, most people would not run it no matter what we'd do because it's so similar to oot3d any% and the big difference is the addition of the cucco seamwalk, which most people don't like to do. Also a fun fact, we had two different MQ categories on this leaderboard for a couple years, DDM (All Dungeons and Dungeon Skulltulas) and 100%. We actually only had one run on those two categories throughout that timespan, and so we switched the categories to the newer ones (All Dungeons and Glitchless), which have done a much better job getting people interested in doing runs.
The reason the rabbits aren't collected in 150 is that the rabbits give you minigames for the Rec Room. The Rec Room data is shared between files once you acquire it, so it doesn't go away until you delete all save data on the opening screen. There is also the fact that the Korean version of this game has removed these minigames and their rabbits. As such, 150 star is a better working definition as it is a viable goal for all the versions of the game, whereas "150 star + all minigame rabbits" does not.
