As far as giving people save files to negate the grind that still would not help anyone who is running the game on original hardware and not an everdrive. You'd be best off asking the mods on their opinion but I would think and hope that they're on a similar page to me on this one.

We really do not need extra barriers to people getting into the game. It's not as though the game is brimming with players grinding away right now. I'm not sure the idea of people needing to take the time out to level characters from another game to import is the best idea in the world.

As far as their viability is from my albeit limited experience from years ago, they always felt somewhat nerfed to me compared to their GBC versions. I could try them out again, but the reason Baby Mario would be above them for me is just the way the game works in a speedrun sense. BM's height and stats generally allow for him to take on more balls than others with a greater margin for error.

The VC WR uses Wario anyway but it remains to be seen if they can replicate that on N64 or not. But imo I just don't see a good reason for allowing the GBC characters in. The time consumption for new players to get them up to playable standards, the fact VC won't even have access to it at all, I don't see much upside to that avenue at all personally.

It's been so long since I messed about with them but I just don't even see a maxed out character from what I remember stand up to Baby Mario.

As much as I don't care about them being legal either due to that, I have to be honest if it was ever to be found that we could make the GBC characters the highest tier I'd be more leaning towards them being banned. The last thing a game like this needs would be another wall for accessibility to run it with the lack of recent activity as it is.

It probably will never matter as I've said, so maybe something that needs more extensive testing to make sure.

Notified the mods over on discord for you. They’ve just been inactive here it seems, so should be resolved soon enough.

SwitchVC is the platform for NSO. It's all part of the VC category (WiiVC/WiiUVC/SwitchVC).

I’m pretty sure both versions are the same.

Looking to apply for moderator status for Robot Wars: Advanced Destruction https://www.speedrun.com/robot_wars_advanced_destruction due to inactivity.

The sole mod on the boards has not been logged in for almost a month now. Reached out to them on twitter and never got a response despite them being active there since I messaged.

What do you mean by privacy reasons? You can have a completely anonymous account and nobody would know who you are.

If you are deadset on not using YouTube, make a Twitch account. You could just go live and play the recording on the video then highlight it once it’s finished.

To me it seems as though being left handed is the bigger deal than stat differences. Your style of shots can make a big difference against each respective player. Regardless of stats for the most part, there are a few shot selections that are optimal. Some shots you wouldn’t normally play, that are more prominent in the senior class.

Left handed being a big deal is that the AI are all right handers. Their strategy is programmed to play against other right handers it seems. That’s why positioning with a lefty gives somewhat of an advantage. Their positioning and movement is anticipating a forehand from a right handed perspective. It’s small margins later on but the amount of return aces, or set ups for easy points is a lot larger.

The case of how runs should be measured based on the system is a tricky one. Too many games have different rules and standards for what is allowed. Really we need a system for this website as a whole that either stamps a rule on original hardware being the standard or not.
