Old thread, and I apologize (blame Sr.com notifications), but I can talk about this for a moment.

The community, as a whole, does not have any sort of "threshold" when it comes to when we cannot allow screenshots. For ILs, a video is required because of known exploits. However, for RTA, it is a game-by-game basis.

I will say, for THP8, a screenshot is fine if you have anything above a 1 hour time. However, past that, we will ask for video proof (stream or YouTube video). It doesn't have to be of the best quality (it could be a cell phone on a tripod or whatever), but it has to show the gameplay enough to where we can ensure there was no cheating or what-have-you.

TL;DR: This is fine, but past 1 hour we will need proof.

I am completely fine with having a 100% category for this game. I don't really add categories unless someone does a run of it first so, whenever you feel like it would be time, I can make it.

The only rule that would have to be discussed is allowing cheats acquired by in-game means. We have had discussion in the past with THPS4 (which allows the same thing), so we would have to talk about it a little bit before we greenlight that part as well. But, for me personally, I have no qualms.

I think we had someone do this before, as more of a test run, but that was well over a year or two ago.

Thanks for the heads up about the slight inaccuracy with PS1 THPS4. When I get the time later today or tomorrow (this weekend at the latest), I will update leaderboards with that in mind.

As for the console versions, I will also update it accordingly. As you said, they are all different games from one another, so it is only fair THPS4 would get the same treatment. (Only reason we probably didn't do it before was that we had no one run the games outside of the 6th gen version of THPS4).

For the case of both George and Remedy, their runs were accepted on the case that:

1. They were trusted runners.
2. There were others who could vouch for them, in the case it is questioned.
3. Their skill level at the game is well-known to us, so their time doesn't throw red flags.

The only thing is that they couldn't submit with a video since they acquired those times in the practice room for SGDQ 2014.

Some communities have a rule where if it is past a certain threshold or a certain placing, a video is required, but we don't do that and ask for proof (however, in the future as we grow, this can change!). People who can't record directly from their N64 can elect for a webcam or phone feed of the gameplay.

As for how to do it: You'll need to get a DVC100, an AverMedia EZMaker, or another composite/s-video capture card first. But, a little bit of Googling or YouTube searching will give you results on all of that and tutorials. Unfortunately, they will cost anywhere between $30 to $60, but you will have a direct feed from the game. But, again, even a webcam will suffice as video proof!

Went ahead and made PC/GCN/PS2/Xbox and N64/PS1 into different sub-categories, since they are different games in a couple of ways.

Tony Hawk games.

The first three THPS games are all very fast paced, very execution based speedruns. THPS4 and THUG1 still have a lot of execution, and a good helping of glitches that make the runs very interesting. THUG2 is short like the older games and also has it's own classic mode that is like the first three games. THAW is meh. THP8 has become a very good speedgame option, since the discovery of some nice glitches and very good routes have helped make it a very well paced run.

People probably get turned off from it because they see these really high intensity runs from say guished, george, remedy, fayte, or any high-level player. Or they get turned off because it is more of a "sports" game, I guess. But, a lot of the people who have chosen a Tony Hawk game as a speedgame love it.

The community is constantly growing, but I always feel like more people should check it out or give it a shot! :D

There is a small issue with the marathon pages, I have found. When an apostrophe is in the title of a game (say, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in this case), then the marathon page will not correctly link it to the game page.

It's just a small bug, and doesn't really break anything (it is mainly just for convenience).

Even though this is an old thread, I wanted to give an answer to this issue:

Fog and horseofthesea were able to figure out that the problem is with NVIDIA drivers. Windows 10 has no effect on the Tony Hawk games, but some sort of DirectX call is lagging in specific parts.

The issue can be fixed by either removing the NVIDIA driver so you use a generic Windows 10 video driver, or change to AMD. AMD drivers have no issues.
