Yo! That's actually so cool, what you came up with! I'm glad to see people other than me doing runs of this map again, so I can have some competition :) I'll definitely do some runs of that soon. I never even thought about using boats. Super cool idea you had! Good job
But beating the bigger ones is not getting a 2048 tile. To beat a bigger one you have to get a bigger tile depending on how big it is.
And for 3x3 to beat it you get either a 128 or a 256, we could have a category for each.
Because those aren't insanely big or insanely small, and still allow for actual gameplay to happen.
Personally, I don't think the really big ones are good for speed runs at all. But maybe having some 5x5 and 3x3 size categories could be fun.
Dude. I think you can understand what he means. Even if you're not using a timer on screen, like I didn't in my run, you end up with a time at the end of the game, because that's what speedrunning IS, beating a game in the fastest time possible. So what they are saying is if you press the menu button, you won't be able to submit a run because your time isn't valid. You don't have to take everything so literal, you know what they mean.
Personally, I think if you did each of those, it would get a bit repetitive and maybe a little annoying. But you certainly CAN. And yeah, adding 4096 to the relay could be a thing too.
Glad that it's being added! If you don't know what to call it, I suggest calling it "8 - 2048 All Tile Relay." If anyone else has better ideas on what to call it, feel free to share.
Hey guys, I'm still waiting for an answer if anyone knows.
Glad to see that you guys like it! I think it's an interesting idea, because it's a longer speedrun. So instead of just maybe getting a good time because of one lucky run, it's probably going to be more skill based because I doubt you'll get good luck the entire time. Also, it allows for a way to use splits when speedrunning this game.
How about a relay?
My idea is to do a relay where you get all the tiles from 8 to 2048, in a row, resetting between each one, in order. So you'd get an 8, reset, get a 16, reset, get a 32, reset, and so on until you get a 2048. Obviously you'd have to do this based on RTA and not IGT.
This is different. This is damage boosting on TOP of walls
I pretty much already know you're not going to want to add this, because it's not the kind of thing people generally add to leaderboards as a thing, but I thought I'd ask anyways.
A thing that I had an idea for, for a speed run challenge, is doing a relay of all of the Single Player Full Game Categories in a row on this map. So we would do Survival Branch Only, No Exploits, No Freebie, Glitchless (No Preserve), Glitchless (With Preserve), and Any% all in a row on the same timer. Obviously you'd need to go into a clean map file for each new part of it that you start. I'd call it the Diversity Map Master Challenge, because doing a run of this really shows that you have mastered every category of this map.
Again, I know you'll likely not want to add it, but it's just a thought. I'll likely do a run of it either way just for fun
I'm the only one who even does runs of this game anymore, but still, I'd like to be helpful for things like stuff that should be added to the rules in case this map ever increases in speed running popularity someday again (or even one other person does stuff again). I recently did a No Exploits run (which didn't have an on-screen timer, so I didn't bother submitting it), and in it, I do the Labyrinthian directly after Boss Battle. When I went through the Hedge maze, I still had the wither effect, and I accidentally damage boosted myself onto the top of the maze, just like I do on purpose in GNP Co-op. I ran right back into the maze after that, bc that's clearly an exploit, and it should be added to the rules for No Exploits that you can't damage boost onto the Hedge Maze. Plus, that'll be even more relevant if No Exploits 2 Player Co-op ever became a thing. Also, maybe you could add something saying that as long as you do get on top by accident, it's fine as long as you go right back into the maze and don't use it to your advantage.
Unlikely this information will ever be used by anyone but me anyways shrugs but whatever.
I get that you said runs with S+Q that don't show a visible timer must be rejected, and that's totally fine... but you said that was the reason for rejecting my Glitches With Preserve run, even though in that run, I never save and quit. Can you explain that?
Also, Livesplit doesn't work on my mac bc it's a mac, none of the in game timers work either because I don't have a way to download them or they don't work with macs. Would going into the files of the world after a run and looking at the playoneminute (or whatever it's called) stat count? Because at James' (the dude I do co-op with) house, he has live split, but at my house, I have yet to find a timer that works.
If I were to do more categories with 2 Player Co-op (I plan on maybe doing No Exploits, No Freebie, and Glitchless w/preserve) would you add them? I also plan on doing these categories singleplayer, FYI. Free world records :P
Co-op can be faster in tons of ILs! Even little things like punching the other person for a speed boost can help
But then that's not really even 100%. Actually doing 100% would be something like obtaining every item in the game, getting All Advancements, and maybe some other things that the mods would decide like raiding every structure or something. The thing is, there's no real way to even decide what you'd include either, which is why 100% doesn't work for this game. If you want a long speed run to pick up for this game, learn the route for All Advancements, or better yet, do it on a Random Seed. That'll get ya your long speedrun
What's the seed for Kill Elder Guardian SSG?
No. That is certainly against the rules
