You want at least 60k points going into Room 25 in order to damage the Chain Chomp with Boomer. Ideally, for a good Pit run, you need at least 25k from the 1-1 Squiglet Grind to ensure that you reach 60k before Room 19, although sometimes you won't need it until Room 25 if the Koopatrol doesn't have the key in 19.
