Weapons you can quickly tap shoot can be automated (for example super meat gun, polaris and potion of gun friendship allow you to shoot very quickly). A toggle would allow you to fire at max rate whilst focusing on movement (turbo button). Similarly you could set up multi-stroke commands to do things like automate charge weapons like the sling and megahand, which would mostly be useful for bosses, again to focus on movement.
I don't think it would allow you to do things you couldn't normally, but can see how removing some of the skill may be considered against the spirit of speedrunning.
Are we allowed to use custom things like toggles and multi-stroke commands? I can't see a rule either way, but I don't want to start learning to use them if they are banned.
I don't think there's a need to have boards for old patches, doing so would end up being very messy. Wiping the board every patch would also be silly imo as many are not likely to redo a time for every category they were wiped from, and it's already pretty sparse. I think the best solution is to just remove runs if they have a discernible advantage for being done on an older patch.
I wouldn't mind there being a single "hall of fame" category, where noteworthy removed runs from all other categories were put just so the curious could look at them. For example the 15:15 run sounds worth watching, but the only reason I know about it is because of this thread.
There is a bug with IGT when you start a run from a quick restart. The timer seems to count the time from when you hit quick restart, to before it starts to generate the first floor. It adds 2-3 seconds to a run, to avoid this start a run from the breach.
