Koopa the quick speeds up after you stop the timer by touching the flagpole, with the normal strat you stop the timer around 18s compared to your 29s. This loses multiple seconds.

@LuizNs Timing starts on console power on / reset. Check the rules tab on the leaderboard page, all submitted runs must follow those rules.

Gamesharks are notoriously unreliable, could be that the one you have just doesn't work. I have one that will give me an 8 or c or nothing most of the time, but if I try enough it will start eventually. But yea if yours won't boot up at all it's probably broken.

I would like to add that if you are trying to get a CRT TV (like you should if you want low input lag) in Europe, not all of them will be able to display NTSC signal with color. I've heard Japanese brands, like Panasonic, Sony, etc, are often able to display both PAL and NTSC in color, so if you can find one like that's probably your best bet.

Getting behind that door isn't a problem, in fact it happens sometimes accidentally when attempting LBLJ to bowser 1. There just isn't anything behind it other than a room surounded by invisible walls, In order to load the upstairs area you need to open the door with the bowser 2 key.

I'd be glad to help if you recorded your gameplay, hard to say what you're doing wrong otherwise.

Also I don't think it's bad for a new player to struggle with ship clip or the TJ in SSL, I would be impressed if a new player could do those well right off the bat tbh, I don't think you have any reason to think you're bad.

Sorry but currently the only acceptable emulators are Project 64 v.16 and OpenEmu. Additionally there's no requirement to have a timer, all you need is a video of your run. (although having a timer can help to determine the length of the run)

You need a video of your run to submit it, streaming is not required

Having audio lets you detect splices that are not visually detectable, it's actually very hard to splice a run without disturbing the background audio so that's one major reason why you need to have game sound

Yes, the 16 star category is really "any%, no SBLJ", so getting a 17th star doesn't delegitimize the run.

No, that's not allowed, and by the way you should not be running on the PAL version of the game, use the US version or J 1.0

Jumpyluff is wrong, afaik each one saves ~ 5-6 frames or so if done perfectly, so roughly 12-14 seconds optimally.

Most players use an original N64 controller, alhough a fair number of players do use Hori

I must say I can't follow their reasoning on this, but it's your event of course :/

I've thought about this and I don't think this makes much sense. Joining a pre-existing race is a separate matter to submitting an entirely new one. If I was someone who didn't get in with my own game but someone else who was a bit late on submissions got in on a race, I honestly can't imagine getting angry / sad about it. Besides, this has happened many times at GDQ's and sometimes I think they've even accepted people who hadn't submitted at all until they were at the venue. For example I remember Siglemic getting fitted into the schedule WAY late, I think it was a few weeks or days before the marathon and he had an entirely new game! I've talked to a number of other runners about this and they all seem to agree that I should get in. Dwhatever who is already taking part of the race wants me to join and I'm sure Noizeeh would want me to get in too.

I'm a SM64 speedrunner and I'd really like to join the 120 star race. My PB is 1:48:44 atm but I'm improving fast.

I know game submissions are over but I thought it could still be possible since you wouldn't need to fit in another game to the schedule, just another player to a race.
