Categories that start with Chapter 1 - When you select Start on the savefile. It is specifically the 1st frame that the screen turns black
-
Categories that start with Chapter 2 - When you select Yes after choosing your name. It starts the frame you select Yes.

When you finish Chapter 1 - Timer ends after closing the final textbox. The final textbox is the one after the choicer in which you choose to sleep in your bed after completing the Dark World.
-
When you finish Chapter 2 - Timer ends after closing the final textbox. The final textbox is the one from Toriel saying that Kris and Susie are already asleep.

Chapters 3 and 4 are TBC
-
All Chapters - The timer pauses when between swapping Chapters.
- After submitting a run, a moderator will review your run before it gets put on the leaderboard. You don't need to formally do anything to prove that your run is not spliced, but a video of your run is required for this game/leaderboard. An image of your final time is not sufficient evidence.
Please note there is currently a leaderboard embargo due to the release of Chapters 3 and 4, hence we are not accepting runs for the next week or two. https://www.speedrun.com/deltarune/news/q6kzvj67
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask
The Z Enter glitch does the same thing. The Enter key you're holding down is not doing anything
The CH1+2 All Chapters categories will definitely remain on the leaderboard in some capacity.
Depending on community and mod opinions, and how different the chapters are in the paid release versus the demo version (due to intentional or unintentional changes), the CH1+2 All Chapters category will likely either:
-
Be moved to Misc (on main board)
-
Be moved to the Category Extensions leaderboard
-
A new leaderboard will be created to seperate the demo and paid release, hence no change
This is something we will work out after Chapters 3 and 4 come out, and after Chapters 1 and 2 have been looked into enough to determine the differences.
Late reply, only saw this now.
Recordings must be in one play session.
You can however take a short break, without it affecting your time, when swapping chapters if that works for you. There's no specific amount of time you have to do the chapter swap, it just can't be anything too long (shouldn't really be over 5 minutes).
I'm assuming though you're talking about play sessions with hours in between them, which is not something we do/allow.
Everyone splits slightly differently in this community, so it's entirely up to your preference.
Altering the data.win in any way is not allowed, including unofficial language mods. You must play on the original data.win. If you got rid it of it, you can simply just redownload the game.
This has been considered before, but it’s currently not been added as the routing would be very close to the singular Chapter 2 runs due to the newer, better weapons being so early in the game. Most categories would show next to no changes.
It may be considered in the future due to the broken nature of some of the items in the Castle Town item fusion items area (which may not even be accessible in a non-True Reset run) but this is to be determined.
The only way to reset is to return to the file select screen. This is most commonly done by closing the game and re-opening it
I don't know what you're asking
Japanese is faster in Chapter 1 by about 13 seconds due to a large amount of unskippable text that you have to wait to scroll (Entering the Castle before the Lancer Fight, Prison Lancer Fight, etc.)
Japanese is only just faster in some Chapter 2 categories (e.g. about 1.5s in Main Route Glitched, 0.267s in Main Route NMG/Glitchless) as there's less unstoppable text, and there's a couple spots that lose time. In fact, it loses time in Chapter 2 in Snowgrave categories (2 frames, 0.067s). This is usually only used in Chapter 2 by the highest level runners, or if it's the runner's preference.
It's worth noting in Chapter 2 however that one of the words that Berdly can randomly spell changes from Prodigy to Wise, saving close to 2s, basically making that section faster on average in Japanese.
It's also worth noting that All Chapters categories somewhat recently changed the timing rules to allow the Chapter transition time to not be included. So in the past, some runners would opt to not change language as it loses time too. With the rule changed, now runners can switch from Japanese to English after completing Chapter 1 with no consequence in their final time due to switching it.
In terms of how to become one in this community, it's minimal.
In terms of what they can do site-wide:
-
Verifiers can verify and edit runs.
-
Moderators can verify and edits runs, as well as edit the leaderboard
-
Not 100% sure on Super Mods, but I believe that they're just mods that can also add and remove moderators, and add Super Mods.
No that's not true. Communities giving a form to fill for people to be a verifier, or even rarer a mod, is only a thing in very rare circumstances where a very large amount of runs comes in in a very short amount of time (e.g. Subway surfers).
This community won't put out requests for mod publicly, specific people will instead be privately reached out to and asked if they want to be mod in the case that a new mod is needed. Those people that are reached out to are usually well trusted, and have a strong understanding in the game. Skill level is not a determinant for being a mod, although people who have a strong understanding of the game are usually highly skilled.
Alternatively, if you submit a game to speedrun.com and it gets put onto the site, you'll automatically be put as a super mod to start off with.
