I am compiling a guide to help everyone, and if anyone has any questions or specific requests that require testing, feel free to ask them here. Example:

Where/How do the Antenna and Receiver blueprints show up?

I will do my best to answer it as fully as I possibly can!

@BlessedBe - Sorry about the confusion, I did not mean disqualification. I meant that when you die in Normal, you lose all of your inventory which will likely ruin any chance of a good run (unless you are playing co-op and have a bed). Unlike Easy, where you can actively use dying as a way to progress further. Sorry.

@ggWasNp - Since our numbers are fairly low, I'd hate to split so few runs into so many similar categories. If we can initially consolidate the categories, we can get a better sense later of what the runs should require. In terms of glitches, what glitches are there? I've seen some involving duplication on servers but not much else.

Pros and Cons of each Category

==Length== Radio Tower (Utopia, Any%)

  • Original Speedrun
  • Quick, clear objective
  • Not the full story
  • Doesn't use newer blueprints

Balboa (100%)

  • Full game(currently)
  • All locations and story blueprints
  • Longer Runs = less interesting

==Difficulty== Easy

  • Less food+water needed
  • Deaths won't end runs
  • Dying can be heavily abused (free teleport to raft, food+water, can abandon raft for island to negate shark)

Normal

  • More difficult, intended game pace
  • Dying is a consequence
  • Dying is a run ruiner

Is it possible we could restructure the categories for more clarity? It seems like there are 3 separate options for run types: Length (Radio Tower or Balboa), Players (Solo or Co-op), and Difficulty (Easy or Normal). Other aspects like glitches as well as creative have vastly different objectives and might serve a better place in a misc. category. Also, since the Raft community is pretty small, I wouldn't mind condensing some of the categories so that we could focus on better tech and resources to progress some real runs, given the gameplay doesn't change too much each patch.

I second this. 3rd tower activation is really the last "story" piece you can accomplish, and would update the speedrun to include the whole game.
