Hello speedrunners,

Since I'm not sure where the right place for this request is, I'm writing it both as a threat here on speedrun.com and on the Asterigos DC server.

Yesterday I started speedrunning Asterigos, but I became a little sad when I saw, that there is just the categorie “New Game”.

So I watched the three listed runs and I saw that P1 Bambam325 and P2 nicowithaC played with glitches at some areas and also with boss-cheeses/freezes. P3 schneewatts did a glitchless run without any skips, cheeses or something like that.

I'm also a glitchless player and I want to be honest, it feels bad to play against players on the same leaderboard who use glitches. Simply because you can't compare them and because you can never achieve such times without glitches.

In the past, I've noticed in some other games that it's possible to add new categories for speedruns, and I've even seen more people start speedrunning the game as a result. So it can also be an opportunity to get people excited about it.

The reason for this message is the fervent desire for more categories for Asterigos on speedrun.com.

In order to save @nicowithaC as much work as possible as the responsible moderator, I have worked out a little something of possible categories.

Maybe they are good enough to discuss them here or even just adopt them.

Here is my draft:

Gamerules:

· Run is timed by RTA (Real Time).

· Run must start timer when you gain control of Hilda for the first time after dialogue.

· Timer stops on confirmation of ending that run. (Dialogue with Minerva)

· Livesplit/Timer must be on screen.

· As of January 9th 2023 dlc items are not allowed.

(Small question at this point: Are all DLCs really not allowed? Because Bambam325 and nicowithaC use items from the preorder version in their runs, which is listed as DLC on Steam and is no longer available. These items give, among other things, a damage buff. Category “Any%” (Category New Game could be renamed into Any%)

Categoryrules:

Start a new game, beat the game as fast as possible.

· All glitches are allowed

· Difficulty can be set to any difficulty throughout the game

· As of January 9th 2023 dlc items are not allowed

Category “Any% Glitchless” (New category)

Categoryrules:

Start a new game, beat the game as fast as possible, glitchless.

· All glitches, skips and boss cheeses are disallowed

· Difficulty can be set to any difficulty throughout the game

· As of January 9th 2023 dlc items are not allowed

Category “NG+ Any%” (New category)

Categoryrules:

Start a new game +, beat the game as fast as possible.

· All glitches are allowed

· Difficulty can be set to any difficulty throughout the game

· As of January 9th 2023 dlc items are not allowed

Category “NG+ Any% Glitchless” (New category)

Categoryrules:

Start a new game, beat the game as fast as possible, glitchless.

· All glitches, skips and boss cheeses are disallowed

· Difficulty can be set to any difficulty throughout the game

· As of January 9th 2023 dlc items are not allowed

The listed runs from Bambam325 and nicowithaC could be listed under “Any%” and the run from schneewatts could be listed under “Any% Glitchless”

I hope you like my draft. I think it would be a lot fairer for all speedrunners in the game if we could make this category distinction.

Maybe you can think of other categories that would make sense for this game. If desired, I am happy to help with the elaboration of the category rules.
