I know I'm not even close to being the fastest, but it's the anomalies in the runs that make me suspect cheating, it's not because of the times. I look at runs, I see the times and I go "oh wow, that's pretty impressive" and then I watch the videos and I'm like...wait a minute something is wrong here...

I like my deathwish run. Plus having lower time runs on the boards encourages more people to try and to post their runs.

I'm going to submit more of my sucky runs too so look out.

Okay so since the hotline miami 2 leaderboards don't mean anything as far as speedrunning goes, I think we should low key encourage people to submit their hot plays or entertaining runs. For example, I have a run of No Mercy on Hard Mode that is 1 minute and six seconds, probably the fastest time ever seen. But it's not as entertaining and cool as my 1 minute 10, or 1 minute 17 seconds run, so Instead I think I'll leave my 1.10 or whatever it us up there for example. On the same side, I think we should let everyone in the community know that speedrun.com is where hotline miami 2 hotplays are posted, and the times don't really mean anything. Some people went all out - and I mean all out, balls to the wall, programs you pay money for to make it look sort of legit, segment save state splicing, microscopic editing to make some cool (albeit unremarkable and robotic looking) top scores, I mean, "fastest time" runs for hotline 2. You can tell they're f'd with because of the way they look. If you run actual hotline miami 2 you will be able to tell in an instant those runs that are for show value and hypothetically the fastest. Most of the moderators are in fact, ha hah hah GULTY and CAUGHT of MODDING fucin hotline miami and if you want to know why you should think it's retarded to mod a game as simple at it's core as hotline when you plan on submitting your plays as world records is, I have a couple of paragraphs about that too. In closing, the hotline miami leaderboards on speedrun.com are jokes. They are the fastest hypothetical runs if you mod the game to sht and hit all over it and flush it into the now-cesspool of speedrun.com. In my opionion, off the record, as this is literally the only video game I play, it has coloured my opinion of this entire website and affirmed my suspicions of the foreign oppressive government targeting me and the thing I like, chipping away at if not destroying the integrity of things I love, were made for me, or otherwise hold profound other-level meaning that is lost upon the grunts of the FOG, and their stupid litte dumb. fuck.

So I'm just say go let your friends know they can submit their cool little 5 second plays and assign whatever world breaking records you feel like farcing because that's what's already happening, and whatever the f you recorded yourself doing in hotline 2 is way more entertaining than shit you can do when you slow the game down to a reards pace.

Thanks everyone. The late dannaton thanks you. gfy cheaters, fr fr

If you're going to speedrun the game, submitted runs shouldn't be modded at all, period. Is it that hard to play an unadulterated version of the game, especially when you're lumping in all the systems together...how is someone on ps4 going to compete with someone on PC who is using tas, or even worse, playing a cloned version of the game that has modifications to its code. That being said, is it so hard to play the game unmodded? Especially with mods that defeat the purpose of speedrunning altogether? When you add something to the game to give you an advantage, you're obviously going to have an advantage, and so submitting such runs to speedrun.com is kind of meaningless. I didn't think I'd have to go into such detail but...

Anyway, even if you're claiming your mods aren't giving you any kind of edge, like different font or sound effects, these mods are still conveniently suspicious - oh you got bored of the normal fonts, and so you changed them? The things the fonts are communicating are consistencies which help verify a legitimate no-foul-play run. The way people take advantage of "using a different font" is that they add in their own font in a post editing process so they can splice segments or floors together and the scores etc will be consistent. I notice no one ever gets board of the colour scheme and adjusts their hue or contrast or the colours. I noticed no one ever gets bored of stuff that doesn't raise suspicion when it's modified. Sound effects? Same thing, when people use different sound effects my first thought is that the normal sounds sound different when they're sped up from having been recorded in slow motion. It's hard to get the exact speeds and rates to sync up post editing...and cheaters don't like hard work. Some of them use different sounds so you can't tell they've been speed manipulated.

Aside from this there's modding which is skipping the little inserted scenes. Like the ones from deathwish between floors, or like in Into The Pit when Tony appears and you have to talk to him for a second. You're on the clock during those periods of time.

Anyone with a normal version of the game has no hope at all in these leaderboards, quite literally, and are likely to be discouraged from submitting. I would wager that speedrun.com would prefer practices that encourage more people to submit than less people. If I have to explain to you why they would probably prefer a busier more active site than a less active site, you can send me a message.

Send me a message anyway, the Hotline miami Communities are bustling everywhere else, and I love chatting about my favourite game of all time.

You can catch me streaming in the Hotline Miami discord, but you won't catch me cheating on the Hotline Miami leaderboard.

Tas is rampant in these leaderboards and it defeats the purpose of the game. You're all doing it. Stop it! Stop your tasing, your runs are garbage if you tas or if you use some sort of modification that allows you to skip parts that are still on the clock. You're all doing it! Do I have to explain to you why slowing the game down so that you have more time to react so you can achieve a higher place in the leaderboards, or using modifications that skip on the clock sequences is...stupid? You're all terrible and shameful. You've brought disrespect and shame to Hotline Miami leaderboards. You're no better than the hackers who hacked their time to be negative seconds. Also, you're using TAS and these are the best you can do? Why don't you hotline miami? It's fun. You can tell a proper hotline miami run when cool shit happens, it's evident that you're slowing the game down, using mods to skip things, and taking your time, you're not playing the game right and you shouldn't be on the leaderboards.

Garbage run. You're using tas or something and some kind of skip thing that lets you skip things. Those things you're skipping by hooking your game up to whatever it is you're hooking it up to, those scenes cost time. You're run isn't legitimate if you're using irregular modifications to the game that let you skip instances that are still on the clock. The way you prove to everyone that you're a big fast tough player is by skipping them quickly, not entirely. It's not just you but these leaderboards are full of runs that are slowed down and use modifications to make them go faster. What is wrong with you people? The game is about reflexes, if you don't have them then I'm sorry, you're not a #1 hotline miami player. Get off the leaderboards of my game. Shoo!
