I really appreciate you Shtrudel adding the game boy advance version of this game as a category. Do you think you can add an Any% Challenge Mode with the same rules as Any% Normal Mode, but on Challenge Mode. I was thinking of doing that difficulty.
One more thing: since this category is not even 24 hours old yet, and you're the only moderator, would it be all right if I became a moderator with you?
I'll just add an extra second to my run to fix my run since I stopped time a second before the black screen.
What I do is record my saved recordings with my camera app to my tablet to the sd card, then I put some music in them and they are ready for youtube. You don't have to do the music part, but it's just my style. I also recommend the camera app "Open Camera" It has so many settings such as putting the footage directly to the sd card, and lots of recording effects, including lowering quality to very low quality for if you wanted to make very long videos (The lowest setting I've ever used is VGA quality. I use that for long handheld console runs like my pokemon black runs. On short runs such as Classic 5.0, I recommend the highest or 2nd highest quality.) I have some examples of those smash bros runs on my youtube channel, in 10 and 100 man smash if you want to go check them out.
How about time starts as soon as you click the Normal or Challenge mode, and end on the final hit to Venom in issue 7? That's what I did. I'm just waiting for the category to open up. I have the run all recorded and I can't upload it until there is a place on here to put it.
I really want to do the GAME BOY ADVANCE version of this game. There are speedruns for it on youtube. I saw another forum about someone wanting to do it too, but it was from a year ago, and no category is made. Should I just submit a run to the Console section of Any%, or will a category be made? What should I do? The last forum I've mentioned the speedrunner said he'd or she'd post a run for this run on the game boy advance, but never did. I plan to though. P.S. will GBA emulators be allowed?
That is somewhat true. Most types of a speedrun can be an official category if people want to do it. A category with only one Pokemon would be interesting to see, but I don't think most of them would be possible. For example, if someone is doing Weedle %, (beat the game with only weedle,) won't you have to use a starter Pokemon, where one of them isn't a weedle? You would have to cheat a starter to be weedle. It could be done, but I don't know how many people would want to run with only Weedle, or Jigglypuff, or MissingNo or whatever. One more thing: Just because there is no Weedle% category or Deoxys% category, it doesn't mean you can't attempt it. Lots of speedrunners do speedruns for their own insane category.
Why the heck would you use only Weedle? Maybe Caterpie since Butterfree is pretty good, but Beedrill couldn't even beat Brock even if it was level 30. You can do it if you want to, since I know some other speedrunners who do their own unofficial categories (i.e. Speedrunning Pokemon Emerald: Complete the Battle Frontier,) but I don't think that should be a category. Do it if you want to though.
P.S. Besides, don't you use a starter Pokemon in the beginning, so it is not only Weedle.
I don't think so. A 3DS and a 2DS have 2 modes: 3DS mode, and DS mode. When playing 3DS games, the system is in 3DS mode. When DS games are playing, the 3DS is in DS mode. Think about it. When you are playing a DS game, why can't you go to the Home Menu without exiting your game, unlike a 3DS game? That is because the game can't change modes if a DS game is playing. One more thing. When you take a 3DS game out while it is playing, the game will say you need to go back to home menu. If you did that to a DS game, the game will freeze, like a DS would, but you can still exit the mode by going to the home menu, without hard resetting. Basically, what I'm saying, the New 3DS XL runs DS games at the same speed as a 3DS, 2DS, or DS would run it. It might run 3DS games better, but not DS games.
Why would you run White? You get Reshiram in Black version, not white version.
Can you speedrun any category in this game on the DS? Just wondering.
I read a rule in Pokemon Red speedruns where the in game audio had to be audible in runs 1:55:00 and lower to prevent people to hide splits. I'm not going to, but for Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green runs, does the in game audio have to be audible? It never said in the rules, but I want to be sure. I don't want to post a run and have it rejected.
Oh thanks. I didn't look at the rule straight. I thought it said that 1:55:00 speedruns or worse runs required audible audio. Thanks. My mistake.
Just a few days ago, I was just viewing the rules for Pokemon Red Speedruns Any% Glitchless category. I just saw a rule I don't remember being on there. The rule is, "Submissions of 1:55:00 and lower require in game audio to be audible throughout the video." Why is this a rule and how is it beneficial to these runs?
The Manipulation can't go perfect every time. I have not seen any Manipulation to work 100% of the time. Just try your best to do the Manipulation perfectly or as best as you can and you should be fine. My chances of failing may be wrong, but it doesn't work every time, even if you did it the way TehHammerShow explained it. Also, thanks for the tip. I was struggling with this Manipulation. I'll see if my attempts improve.
The Manipulation won't work every time. There is a 1/10 chance for it to go wrong, even if you do it perfectly. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. It's probably had luck. What I do is use Squirtle to deliver a tackle or two before I catch it. Sometimes I just risk it, and I fail :-(
