I get we're kind of waiting on roos load tests but this board was decided to be given to us before he was even doing it, so why is it taking so long to just put it up? Seems pretty absurd. Me and others have been running it with plenty of stability for weeks so why isn't it up already?
I've never seen a company as out of touch but also in touch with the internet as Nintendo.
Nintendo now appears to be targeting speedruns and romhacks in their campaign against videos they don't profit off of on youtube, just be cautious of what's going on in your channels and be wary about uploading new replays and such. Sucks it has to come to this but I don't want to see anyones account get terminated due to some bs.
Yes, I'm of the opinion that people should be able to run on whatever they want and have their work shown for it. This would also be the best platform for beginners because it'll be the shortest RTA version by far, I myself am also sick of hearing Kendo/Marvin 10,000 times a stream, so it'll be good for experienced runners/people on a very very low budget like myself.
I know I'm rather new to the re2 community but more platforms only means more competition and more room for the community to grow. I know adding new categories is a hassle and all but there is a lot of dead categories, such as the 4th survivor and tofu categories that could probably be removed without much complaining from anyone. PC version and gamecube emu have the most potential for good balance because there's no nintendo handheld version that loads significantly faster than platforms people have easy access to like the psx emu categories.
I'm fine with the idea of testing them first before adding it as a category but if people wanna run and have their work shown there's no reason they shouldn't be able to. Plus it'd be a completely clean leaderboard with fresh competition so newbies aren't stuck in super optimized categories where damn near perfect runs are required to even make top 15 like on pc.
I run re2 and the best advice I can give to any new runner is that you gotta pick a game you love, one you can play over and over again and not get sick of it. But also be prepared to never be able to play the games you run the same way ever again. There's definitely sacrifices you gotta make to get good at your chosen game, but the communities you'll find around here are incredibly supportive.
Feel free to contact me if you need any help choosing a game or how to get started, I can also help you with obs in greater detail. Have a good one and welcome to the forums dude!
Thanks so much guys! I'm getting some news from my cable company tonight, had to go on short hiatus because of a fee we received, unsure if it was from livestreaming too much. But if all goes well I should be streaming tonight or tomorrow.
My name's Joe and I represent my twitch channel Space Lobsters Gaming where I frequently stream speed runs/speed run practice of Resident Evil 2 Dual Shock Version (J) Leon A scenario! My streams can be found at www.twitch.tv/spacelobsters, any follows would be appreciated, viewers especially would along with criticism from more experienced runners. Thanks so much for taking time to check out my stream, so far my best time is 1:19:17 but I'll most likely be putting my next successful one on here. I love the speedrunning community and have so far received nothing but kindness.
