also I think if you hit him fast enough when he doesn't dodge and try to do a combo you can stop him sometimes it happened to me but not sure about that

well you can't attack him nonstop for one simple reason: random. yeah so basically when you start attacking him he can dodge or decide to attack you directly, if you are lucky he will attack with a simple slash allowing you to quickly dodge and start another combo, less lucky he dodges and you pray to do a simple dodge and not a roll to be able to attack him quickly enough to stop him to attack, not lucky he doesn't dodge and start a 3 hit combo, even more not lucky, he doesn't dodge and start a 4 hit combo
