Well yes, but you can optionally use Hybrid Firmware (HFW), which is essentially a toggle to go between CFW and original firmware. It is fairly simple to install and get going and HFW works on every PS3 model, you can use this guide to help

You can mod your PS3 and download the game from disc using multiMAN to your hard drive and it will still be allowed for runs.

Stone Jake takes a long and obnoxious path at times when using the palm trees. In the Any% run we just get caught by him and get him to run all the way to the end with our optimal line of movement. In the MTC (Patch Grab) we try to get his attention by whacking some trees then getting caught by him and doing any% strats.

Linking and sharing ISO is piracy, however if you have the PS2 disc and a disc drive on your PC, you can play the game directly by the disc by choosing Plugin in the CDVD menu. You can also rip the ISO using a program such as ImgBurn to create a .ISO file from disc.

Hey, has Backwards Compatible PS3 as a platform been suggested? I verify for Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, and having BCPS3 as an option can be super helpful with our current mod discussions. I ask for BCPS3 as it is similar to WiiVC in the sense that you use a Wii to play an older system's games, and also there is a PS3 version of Sly 1. A lot of other games could really use this feature too

If you do want to do these, i highly recommend looking out for a PS2 (NTSC/USA) version. The PSN version loses about 6:50, and even more on PS Now.

We've known about this "newly-" discovered Reload Code for quite a while now, and like Sly 2, it's disallowed until there's demand for Any% w/ Cheats (which is most likely never gonna happen, especially with only one dev code).
