I purpose that since RottDawg and Swingflip are the only runners for horde and like to do map ILs that we make them separate pages like beast mode so level leaderboards just have Casual and Insane Any%.
It's mainly for horde Brassmaster as swingflip said normal is the default for horde and I believe he did a hardcore run. Or is working on one, but yeah I agree is should be casual and insane. I don't know how to change the categories so that horde can have all four.
The previous layout didn't separate Xbox One and PC for ILs and only for full game runs. And the new layout is made from feedback on how it should be from everyone here.
They're not, it's just that Xbox One is the default because it's the original console version.
No, there is more from other Gears games.
Me, Flurby, Swingflip, ThadJarvis, ACLive, smartalec, RottDawg, Simon Inked, Brassmaster, and you.
They're the community and if that's how they feel then I have to go with what they want.
Honestly I think the categories should be like this for every game in the series.
Casual Runs must be single segment.
Insane Runs must be segmented.
Youkai I believe did Gears 1 insane segmented so why not? He did the first insane run and it was segmented. We could set that for the standard for all Insane Any% runs.
Wouldn't that be Weapon Master Mode 200%?
Yes it should be required for 1st through 3rd. Those are the top places, but if it's under those then I would say it's not needed as much. It's still recommended to have a video though.
Alright I made the changes, what do you think of them now swingflip? I made the maps as a variable and instead of a category for each difficulty it's a variable. That way I can make the difficulty for variable just for horde and maps as well.
If you want to compete with others then you can change filter to see who is the best for any combination of the variables. This is similar to what Soulcalibur does with the characters and console.
I could also do the same for Gears of War 3 because I know you ran horde on multiple maps.
Speaking of Cave of Ordeals, can we have Any% Glitchless and Any%? Simply because the Wii has an exclusive floor skip glitch, but Gamecube doesn't. So it's not fair to average around 24 minutes if you're really good and 8 minutes with the glitch. That is quite a difference and I think warrants for the runs to be separated into those two ways.
It's more for ease to have them done as acts instead of chapters I believe.
Levels as in each chapter or maps? See having one for each chapter would be way to cluttered. Take a look at Gears of War 3, I added each chapter because of arcade mode. It shows your time at the end of each chapter. Live wanted to do this and I was like okay because the leaderboards for XBL won't be up forever for the game.
I think it's pretty safe to say that it's established that ILs for Gears games are acts only rather than individual chapters. If it's maps though they don't really make a difference. Sure they can be, but I don't think enough to be up for ILs.
Now I did bring up this on the forums and that is to create leaderboards say for example arcade for Gears of War 3 and challenges for Perfect Dark XBLA. We could have full game, level, and horde leaderboards. That way Act ILs would be different from horde maps. Then horde categories could be separated from full game and have their own leaderboards. I believe if enough people can vouch for this idea then we could see it happen.
Also Swingflip do we really need hardcore and normal for horde? Why not just Casual And Insane? We could just have a Horde Any% and have the difficulties as variables. That way people can compete with the difficulties without the categories so cluttered.
The problem is that the variable is set for all full game categories. You can't select which ones it affects, and the only workaround is to make multiple variables for each one besides horde. I know it's annoying, but horde just has to deal with that.
There is an alternative, make horde categories miscellaneous categories. I feel people wouldn't like horde as a misc category though.
Made the changes, but this glitch can be different enough from glitchless so that's why they are separate. Brass already talked about this and said that we need testing on it and if it's enough then they will separate.
Okay added you and will make those changes and I'm glad you're going to be doing runs. Hopefully you can keep this game alive in terms of speedrunning.
I had tried to make horde have difficulty subcategories but it looked too ugly with the console subcategories too. So they're there own categories as it looks better even if there is more of them.
Good luck on the future runs :D
There is glitch that can potentially save quite a bit of time where you can bounce out of the map. More like a kung fu flip and there is tutorials for it if you want to see it. Considering it can skip huge chunks of the game it deserves it's own category. Where this was brought up by a fellow runner LIVE.
PC could be faster because of loads, on Xbox One I have seen Live and Flurby stuck watching a cutscene. Then one time they can skip it fast, PC can possibly be more consistent with that and load faster.
I fail to see why Horde shouldn't be there, it's doable with friends and RottDawg runs horde on Gears of War 3. Who's to say that someone else might want to run Horde 3.0 as well.
Insane yes is truly insane to run, but if someone wants to then they should be able to. Maybe it could be possible to merge Glitchless and Any% to where glitches are allowed in Insane Any%. Because as any Gears fan knows Insane is so brutal.
Okay, kirkq I have another one since you sort of resolved this one and I didn't want to create another thread. This still pertains to ILs sort of, so Gears of War 3 has kind of a messy ILs section because I added chapters for arcade. You can play through arcade and have a time for the chapters and so I wanted to keep track of those times since XBL servers won't be around forever for the game. It's so cluttered on the ILs along with the act ILs.
Is there anyway you could possibly think about implementing more leaderboard options that we can create for pages. I think this would be a perfect option as Perfect Dark struggles with this very issue too. Endeavor made the normal mission ILs, but also challenge ILs. If we could create these leaderboards to minimize what is going on in the level leaderboards that would be great. Gears of War 3 could have level leaderboards and arcade leaderboards and Perfect Dark could have challenge leaderboards. Of course I feel like we should name and create them.
Probably a limited amount as well maybe up to two other leaderboards along with full game and level leaderboards.
