Thanks for catching that, I'll get it updated!
Just verified your Xolan runs drgrumble and bubblebutt, good job you guys! I'm super excited I finally have people submitting runs for that game ^_^ I encourage more people to try it out. It's a fantastic mobile game to speedrun.
RExChase, I looked at your VODs again and there are still a couple of things you need to understand:
- Separate Ways NG+ is a category that utilizes in-game time on this leaderboard (so you don't have to worry about timing it).
- Your 24:45 run is considered to be segmented, which isn't allowed on this leaderboard.
- Your 25:21 run IS single segment however. If you submit that VOD as video proof, it will be accepted using your in-game time.
I understand it can get confusing. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. I hope this helps.
Do you mind if I change the leaderboards around a little bit to make them look a bit more slick and user friendly?
Any possibility of adding a separate category for challenge mode levels?
Just out of curiosity, is it acceptable to submit a Pokemon Red run that was played on N64 via Pokemon Stadium and the "Gameboy Transfer Pak?"
Thanks for answering even if this question has been asked before.
To put it in writing, I've helped Azon out with this on Discord.
Hello Azon, I'm not sure what exactly you need help with. If you clarify your question I might be able to narrow it down and help you out. Otherwise here are just some links to basic OBS guides:

Let me know if you help with anything else.
This is my old NG Pro tutorial, it'll work for 360 version. I use super easy/safe strats that work well for marathons.
This tutorial's cabin strat is the one Morse taught me. It's very consistent, so you can reference this for an explanation: But watch Phaero0 cabin too (time 16:32): And Phaero0's waterhall strategy (time 28:52):
Check out some other runs too. The more runs/runners you watch, the better you'll understand the strats. Cabin, waterhall, elevator, etc. all have a lot of small details that are actually very important.
Anyways, try a couple of NG Pro runs and see how it feels. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Hello speedrunners!
With the introduction of PS4 and XboxOne versions, we've been getting a lot of new runners who aren't yet familiar with the submission process. I've been regularly rejecting many runs lately and I think it is time to make it clear what will be accepted or rejected here.
The following are the submission guidelines, please carefully review:
-
Platform Type When you choose your "Platform Type," please note if you are running Xbox 360, PS3, XboxOne, PS4, or any Wii version, this counts as HD Console. PS2 and Gamecube runs should be listed as SD Console and PC versions will be listed as PC.
-
Frame Rate If you submit a run that is played on HD or SD Console, do not choose a frame rate. Please simply leave it blank or "-". Frame rate is only used to distinguish runs on the PC version, utilizing 30fps, 60fps, or both 30 and 60fps.
-
Proof and Timing If your run is in 1st place for that category, you will need FULL VIDEO proof, whether that is uploaded on YouTube, available on Twitch, or another site. Other runs that are 2nd place or slower, only require picture proof. I however, highly encourage you to submit full video proof. The proof requirements have been extremely lenient and can be made extremely strict if abuse occurs.
Having said that, many people have asked how to submit picture proof. It's as simple as uploading the proof to another site such as Imgur, which will provide a link for you to use in lieu of the Video Proof.
You will need 2 pictures. The first picture needs to be of the In-Game timer at the end of the run. This is the same screen that includes your total deaths and accuracy. The second picture needs to be of the save file in the typewriter (so we can verify both the difficulty you're playing on and whether you are on NG or NG+).
Back to frame rate. If a run is using both 30 and 60fps, it requires video proof no matter what. The same goes for ALL Assignment Ada runs.
-
Video Proof Please HIGHLIGHT your VOD submission. If I'm seeing multiple attempts in your video, you're not highlighting it properly. The same goes for dead time, I've been seeing many video submissions with hours of time before, after, and even in between the run. I can't emphasize enough how much this needs to happen. If you are doing a New Game+ run, please include the typewriter at the beginning of the run where you would have selected a load file.
-
Modified Inventory It goes without saying that if you are using a cheated inventory, your run will be rejected. For example, a NG+ PC run featuring an inventory that has a 999 stack of flash grenades. Or guns that have been modified to have a higher ammo count, higher firepower, etc.
-
Miscellaneous A lot of runners are also streamers and YouTubers, have fun but please do not have any sort of overlay, image, or camera obscuring the final In-Game time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know and we can work together to clear up any further issues.
-Love, Sleep
The game is pretty inaccessible in my area. No local shops have it and it is very expensive to order online. Emulator category doesn't seem like a horrible idea.
Hey guys, I just wanted to update everyone. I am in the process of adding new trustworthy mods to help me out. Please give me some time and be patient. I have some plans to update the leaderboards again. Please know that I am working hard on all of this. I haven't posted a lot on the forums, but I've been reading it and doing a lot of "behind the scenes" work to try to hold everything together during this past hectic week.
Once again, thanks for trusting me as a mod. I want nothing more than to make the RE4 community respectable and inviting. I don't condone any of the negative activity circulating on the threads here lately. I fully expect everyone to respect each other here in the forums. The leaderboards are a work in progress and will only improve more and more over time. I encourage everyone to continue to run the game and have fun with it, no matter what category you play. It's crucial that you simply have fun with the game, because that's what is actually important here and that's what unites all of us.
Thanks everyone, -Sleep
How do I know if my run is accepted or not? Also my game is on Steam, do I have to bring my own computer? Or can I use the one at the convention?
My last run I started the timer upon waking up to grab the tracer fluid. And I stopped the timer upon reaching Catherine in the Ark. So the opening cinematic and closing cinematic were NOT included in the final time.
In my run I failed a bunch of glitches and immediately hit "Exit Game" and "Continue" to take me back the closest save point. I think as long as the timer is still running as you do this, it should still be considered a single segment. You still lose time from failing the glitch and going to the menu, but you don't lose the entire run. Dying to a monster should also be fine. It's a time loss, but in no way should be considered a run loss.
All of this is based off of my experience with speedrunning other games.
That helps a lot! I was able to do it for the first time. Thank you!
Can someone make a video tutorial on the prop flying trick?
So I did a full run of SOMA earlier today. I started the timer when I pressed "New Game" + "Yes" when it asked me if I wanted to overwrite my save. I stopped the timer when reaching Catherine Chun (within the Ark after the credits).
This is because these are the parts where you gain control and lose control of the game.
-
Did anyone else have a different idea of when to start and stop the timer?
-
Does anyone have a timer with a load remover for this game? I noticed when submitting the run that "Time Without Loads" was an option.
I'm sure I'll have more questions to come as I continue to help improve the run. Good to see so many people already interested in this. ^_^
