When i first requested SRC to make a page for this game, I was aware of the Swedish version of the game. However, while the controls and graphics are the same, the levels are not at all. So there is no equivalent run to be done between the two games. So to me it doesn't seem reasonable to me to merge them as one game.
Making a combined "series" could make sense, as the Swedish version is just a re-make of the originally Danish game. This is how it's done for the different Lemmings games for example: https://www.speedrun.com/series/lemmingsseries
If this and/or Kalas Puffs was a more popular game to speedrun, sure. But Guldkorn Expressen has 1 follower, 1 run and 1 player (all me), while Kalas Puffs has 3 followers, 1 run and 1 player.
That is amazing!
I don't think that the level being unlocked means anything. As long as you play them all, in order, with no difference between that and a fresh run.
The speedrunning community for Lemmings seems pretty small still. Doing something accidentally wrong is not cheating and i don't think anyone would be judging you. Just follow whatever the rules are for the category you're running and you should be fine.
Grats on the Genesis WR.
I am not a mod of this game, but typically you should give mods 1-2 weeks to verify or reject runs. If its been longer than that you can try and contact the mod. Speedrunning is a community driven thing with other speedrunners as mods. They might not have time in their daily schedule to review longer speedruns on a days notice.
You will get a notification whenever your run is rejected or verified. If you haven't received a notification yet it should still be submitted without having been reviewed yet. There is an hourglass in the menu bar you can click on and then in the drop down menu click on "Runs awaiting verification". If your run is in there it has not been reviewed yet.
More. Categories. Then! (classic allowed/classic banned)
If i understand correctly you're looking for games to speedrun which do not include combat? There are a plethora of that type of games.
Three out of the four leaderboards I mod do not have any fighting. These are Pandora's Box (a puzzle game), Guldkornexpressen (an old and incredibly obscure game) and Breached (a sci-fi walker game). All of the four leaderboards I mod currently has me as the only active runner, so I would love some competition. These are all on PC. Other non-combat games that caught my interest are Lemmings and Island Saver.
I think non-combat is a very broad restriction though, maybe you should narrow down to what kind of genre you like and what platform you prefer.
Hi @NihilistComedyHour Great work on the Lemmings series, have been watching some of your speedruns. I am a speedrunner of obscure games and I plan on running Lemmings Paintball, if you want to add that to the series. I'll gladly moderate it, and if you ever need it I can help out on the other Lemmings games too. Though activity generally seems to be low so i don't imagine you're overwhelmed by mod tasks. Should i go through the game request page or can you just create the game page?
If anyone discovers an exploit please post it here to help the community. I have discovered one:
Speedboost: When loading in a drone, as soon as the music starts but before the load screen goes away, fire the engines (press and hold left mouse button). This gives an incredible acceleration and will last until braking.
It seems that clicking before the music cuts in also work. I am currently unsure what the timeframe is for clicking. Map F6 (crater) loads in too fast for me to react to the music que, so i press earlier to get the boost.
That is pretty cool. The video is private though.
Hi there, If you are interested in speedruns of obscure games you have come to the right place. This free commercial game made in Denmark in 1991 is a piece of childhood trauma for many danes who are now in their 20s and 30s, and their parents were possibly traumatized too.
If you stumbled upon this post please say "hi" in this thread to show me that there is any interest in this game.
@Tetsuya150 in that case i would contact the mods to make the ferocious difficulty available for submission. It makes sense since it is part of the game.
I encourage you to have it submitted, i think that LoL:ToC needs more speedruns and getting on a leaderboard here encourages yourself to improve and others to run too.
@Tetsuya150 if no leaderboard is made there is no guarantee that you will get one for your run. If you have a good idea for a leaderboard go ahead and propose it. Though be aware that your idea won't necessarily be accepted.
Often categories that limit what is intended to be available at your disposal in the game won't be accepted like an "unarmed" or "naked" category which would just result in slower runs. Or a "no sleep" category which would be pointless given that the WR in the any% categories do not use the sleep function in the game.
A category like "ferocious difficulty" would make sense as that would be part of the game, and i assume if you did such a run a leaderboard would be made for that.
Hello folks! I have viewed @kvkbones glitch dicoveries (big probs to you!) and @djeez glitch run and noted down how i would proceed. I have done a casual playthrough which can be seen here and i also have the uncut 3½ hour recording of my stream (with breaks and reloads) on my twitch channel.
I have, however, encountered several problems with the whole creating illegal items process to obtain keys and etc. and i would like to hear if anyone could enlighten me.
- The Urbish mines: First time i created the three illegal items and proceeded like in Djeez run i never got the bloodstone. Second time i did get it. Is there anything specific you have to do, like encounter a certain rock monster, to get the bloodstone? Or was I just unlucky the first time? Also i see Djeez only creates two illegal items before entering mines level 3 and drinks a potion between making each item, why does this note give the note as one of the two items?
- Entering Castle Cimmeria second floor. I had to create 5 illegal items to get the Carrion key, but again Djeez appear to create 3 while consuming two items in between doing this. I know that counting up this adds to 5 also, but i cannot see how this would change what you get going up? Same story going up from second to third floor in Castle Cimmeria, i see Djeez consume two items then create 3 illegal items - how does this work?
- Sometimes i seem to not be able to find any spot close to the edge to do item duplication and only after reloading a saved game it works again. Am i just a noob or has someone else experienced this?
If it becomes popular enough for people to run it i think it should be added to misc. If you complete it and show it is possible then someone else might do it, or be commissioned to do it, and once there are a few runs out there then a new category could be born. I think it is interesting where some regen abilities might become more valuable like atleast 1 point in warmth for sorc. Farming boss groups like Beetleburst seems like a good way to but pot up and level up. No save and quit might be what makes this not viable though, but prove me wrong.
I am all about weird meme runs. Pacifist is my favourite category.
I decided to make a sub-category for each stage in this category. One subcategory for each level. This because running the full thing is a marathon. I don't know how long it would take but it will be brutal, good luck to anyone wanting to run all 350 puzzles + 7 bosses with no skips or hints. The subcategories were made to bring all the puzzles into play.
If you want to run any of the subcategories from level 2 to 7 you MUST use the "CHISLER" cheat to skip any prior stage. Say you want to run the Coyote level without having to complete earlier stages. You just make a new game, then hold "Alt" while typing "chisler". A window will pop up where you can change the level to 4. Once you have done this you can click on New York City (which should still be on the map), but after entering it it will tell you you completed this level. When you get back out on the world map the cities from the level you set should be there. Your run starts when you enter any of these cities and finishes once you hit "continue" after clearing the boss stage. Note that if you enter any level prior to starting your run then your speedrun will be DISQUALIFIED. This is because you can make the game skip the "tutorial" for each type of puzzle if you've entered it prior to starting your run, thus saving time. This is important to streamline runs.
You can see how i set up the run in the beginning of this video:
Please make sure your video capture software captures the pop-up dialogues making the run easier to verify.
Since the game has a built-in timer, that will be used when running individual levels.
Use the "puzzles only" to run individual levels. It appears that the boss stages cannot be done this way. So a good idea is to save before entering a boss stage to run in the full game to be able to rerun it indefinetly. For some reason the timer does not reset even if a stage is completed in a run, and therefore saving and reloading to re-run a boss stage starts where the timer finished. So to avoid having to play through the game to run the boss stage the timing will be counted from the beginning of the boss stage to the end time. For instance if the first number the timer shows is 8 min 25 sec and ends at 8 min 55 sec, the run is counted as a 30 sec run.
I will be adding individual levels whenever there is a run for it. Please just write me if you've done one not on the list yet, then i will add it.
Request to become moderator of the 1999 puzzle game Pandora's box: https://www.speedrun.com/Pandoras_Box
- My WR run was submitted over 1 month ago. (My first WR run was submitted at an earlier date but dummy me edited the submission instead of submitting a new run each time, so only the latest run counts.)
- Mod was last logged on 3 months ago.
- I tried contacting the mod on twitter where he is active (had to tweet since private messaging is turned off). I tweeted him on 21st of july and he has not responded but has been active on twitter everyday since my tweet.
Thanks, makes sense to grab him then.
Another question: Do you skip the cutscene with him dying if you never grab him? I could prolly just test but it is faster to ask.
Oh djeez this game is my childhood. I don't have time right now to get into speedrunning it but i will give it a go at some point. Most likely won't beat your records though :)
Is there a timesave in skipping the inn to get Timothy and going full speed to Rolands manor and back to Gladstone? You will also save his passage fee which may come in handy.
I guess the main disadvantage is losing some fighting power which can make the fights slower, but should be doable on wimpy.
