Not during this run no. I tried in future runs and died in them all before taking a break from DW1.

Imo that is more of a "challenge run" just a for fun kind of category. There are dozens of those in this game and making one of those into an official category would bring up question about others. Then we just have a very cluttered leaderboard with very few runs in most of them. Now if someone wanted to make a "challenge run" leaderboard where anything goes and people can submit runs of their own choosing and rule sets then I would be all for that.

2 RDM, 1 BLM, 1 MNK. If anyone wants to check it out...it could be done better and faster.

I beat the game in a single try with only forced battles and 0.5 EXP. It could probably be done with 0 exp but you would be resetting for the rest of your life for perfect RNG

In the normal Speedrun we already rush Garland and the pirates, it can be done under 5 mins 30 seconds in a standard run. Might be and to cut off a bit with only trying for that in mind but I don't see it as a worthwhile category to create.

When I was doing some puzzles not so long ago I also noticed quite a few of the puzzles being very similar. I would say that as long as no save states are used and you are just loading up a puzzle and finishing it asap...that's what matters. We all know that FF1 NES is limited in what it does with RNG.

The load times for the N64, Wii, and WiiU are all very close. Your run will only really notice much a difference if you play on emulator.

I'm not 100% on this but I do believe that the "All Characters and Espers" isn't a official catagory yet. With enough interest maybe one day it will be.

I would think that all monsters would be good enough... But I guess it comes down to what everyone wants

As far a I know there aren't any categories for randomizer because they are just for fun with random seeds... Every run is different, it's hard to compare yourself to someone that is running a different game.

You might want to try to contact either Leonis07 or Nickynoel for some good notes for the run. I personally like to just watch a run for an idea of what they do, then just do my own thing and even try my own route.

It becomes much more risky for many reasons. First no cure spells, less hp, worse weapons and armor. For your first few times try the rdm out and after a bit try a blm out when you're comfortable with the route.

You can also watch the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place runs too see three different routes you can use.

Sorry for the late response. I haven't been on here much lately, I'll add a new category. All characters isn't possible and neither is every class thanks to the unique characters. Every stage is a good start though, and I'll be sure to be on here more often again and maybe get my capture card working on try some new runs myself.

If you do a run with any rules you like I'll add a category for it. There isn't much for runs yet so anything goes for now.

I was thinking complete every stage would be 100% There are 43 stages I believe and I planned to doing a route with every stage completed one I get a better any%

You can also start with a safe route that takes longer and in time slowly take more risks to cut time at a later date when you have full runs under your belt.

I play on the NES and it's even harder than the PSP version. I lose 95% of my runs before I finish the ice cave. Times in the game can swing so much from one or two unlucky encounters. When I hadn't finished a run I would compare myself to my average splits. That way it's easy to see a mix of green and or red, not just red splits.
