How about a Blue yourself category? Already exists in MK8 extensions?
Decided just to post this here for game history, although this game is dead anyway so likely will never matter but still.
on 1/30/2023 I got a time of 45:38 on resistance any% and got times on Airborne and Black box that would have been World records, sadly I forgot to hit record and the times were lost.
The Black box time (which I've now beaten on camera) finished with an in game on time of somewhere in the 20:3x area. Which likely translated to the low 5:30s.
The airborne time in real time was in the low 4:20s. Don't remember in game time.
If anyone in future comes along to run this game just want the records to be recorded an known in some forum, even if they can't officially count. Hopefully someday either me or someone else can beat that time on camera so the game can have the real World Record on the rankings.
Requesting a rules definition from a moderator. Would like to know the exact meaning of the term "user created gamemode" applying to the rules of the 30 kill challenge. Does that mean nothing downloaded or no rule changes at all?
@speedman204. that already exists. It's called 100% and it's on the main mkwii page
I just started taking a interest in SMS after watching averagetrey's WR history videos both any% and 120. I'm noticing looking at the any% rankings six 1:14 runs have been posted in the last month. This seems way beyond anything that'd be considered normal in my experience with speedrunning. So my question is did something big just get discovered or is this some insane community hot streak?
Problem with using Flame runner for that is it has very bad acceleration. Which is much more important then speed because you aren't getting up to full speed on the rock since your having to slow down to turn so much. As MKWilliam said the Bit bike is a very good choice. Quacker is great also and even if you want to go with something you might be used to mach bike isn't to bad and would likely be easier. Especially because in my experience getting on the rock with the smaller bikes is harder and so could result in more of a grind to get a better time.
This isn't a game i run at all but something i'm curious about after watching a video on this game ( i forget which one) I know most all of the top runners on this game run on N64. But unless i misunderstood something quite badly VC saves several minutes due to load times and less lag. Why wouldn't top runners or most anyone else not want the free time save? Only reason i can think of is tradition. Is there a better reason or is it just that's how it's always been?
I assume the answer is no but i feel like i should least ask. Is there any even theoretical way to get any lower then 3.550 on body count. or is it just entirely impossible cause of how the score counts?
@Daravae i had deleted that run already and my better time and quality run has been approved.
Have some runs for NHL 19 that got rejected for the video footage not being good enough even though it was easily enough to confirm i did what was needed and in what time i did it. And now i can't get my newer runs (with better video quality) confirmed because the mod is totally offline his discord listed is invalid and he doesn't respond anywhere else
are there any tutorials for the weird crouch/ jumping movement that WR's use?
I hate to say no on this because it would bring times down alot but i just see to many issues with allowing it. Letting people just pause whenever or take breaks between tracks would defeat the purpose of a speedrun in the first place. If i can take 2 minutes between each track is that a speedrun anymore? or just a really good casual playthrough. You'd have to have rules about how long you could pause or wait between tracks but even that has problems i don't like. Are the mods really gonna be able to enforce that rule? Can they look through every run submitted to makes sure you don't pause to long or take to long of a break? Is charlie gonna have to sit there with a timer to count the break time for every single run? Even if the answer is yes do we want a situation where we might have to tell someone who got a really good run that it doesn't count because they paused for 11 seconds and the limit is 10? There's to many complications that would result from that. Or you could make the word speedrun totally meaningless. Doesn't make sense to me.
Yes it does. I was hoping someone knew about game version differences
So i can't find anything on this. In many Nintendo games. There are significant version differences that effect speedruns. japanese games are used in some games because of slightly faster loading time like in Super mario sunshine for example. Does anyone have any idea if this might be the case in MKWii? or if any other version saves time on loading. Could be a big deal in 100% if it's the case
200cc rules could really stand to be more specific. But big questions i'm gonna link to twd98's 59:50 run of 200cc 32 track. hopefully it starts where i want it to but if not check out what he does on CM. he uses the top ramp to jump out of bounds and then goes under the track to skip to another section. Is that allowed? what if i were to do that but come back in bounds at the line instead of skipping half the track? I think the rules could stand to be clearer rather then just saying you can do what would be allowed online because more can be done on 200cc then could be done before. What about the thing on toads factor where you go from the ramp coming out of the factory section trick and land behind the bulldoser then clip through them to come back? that allowed?
Actually I'd really like a mod to clarify this cause that would be a big deal if you can.
with 200cc and 300cc being a popular and pretty cool think I think it'd be fun to have a category for them with the Nintendo tracks. It could be fun to run and watch others run. Not sure where it'd fit though but either here or on Mkwii Category extensions.
This thread is gonna become the church of mkwii. where people come to confess to their sins of fake runs
