There is no Livesplit autosplitter that I know about.
8-4 ILs would be verified a lot faster, if - especially emu runners - bothered to follow the rules and make it possible to determine the exact time. You can't get a frame-accurate time from a 30fps video (or even 60fps really) and frames do matter it a run that short. If emu runners simply checked "Show framecount" on their emulator or recorded an emulator movie, it would be much easier to time them. In RT_1's case I guess you can convert it to the right framecount with the stuff provided by the practice rom, but nobody has done so yet. In Nolmy's case there is just nothing. The submission says eddie timed it, but how? By checking the video time and rounding to the closest possible time?
And we honestly do need more active moderators, but since we discuss those things with each other in advance nowadays, our decision-making has slowed down a lot. Hopefully we can add more soon.
I replaced it with a working link from his Nicovideo channel.
I don't agree with moving it over, but changing timing might make sense.
So you verify that no "hitbox manipulation" took place by going over the run frame by frame and looking for any pixel overlap?
Ok, but it can't be in the mouse-only category then. Also you should record at at least 30fps.
Thanks for the information! I took all that info for that part from http://speeddemosarchive.com/Mario1.html#norm and a lost TG news article (http://www.twingalaxies.com/content.php/2577-Scott-Kessler-Attains).
While Aaron Collins may have never been ranked first, he would have been first if Mike Morrow's time had been adjusted, right?
So the history would be like this:
[small]Time gets rounded down to full seconds. Glitches are banned. Twin Galaxies was the primary leaderboard outside Japan until SDA got more popular and then speedrun.com got more popular.[/small] 5:27 by Mike Morrow [small]TG changed timing rules to start from pressing Start.[/small] 5:28 (~5:25) by Aaron Collins [small]officially ranked below Mike Morrow's 5:27 but faster[/small] 5:20 (~5:17) by Cam Allen 5:17 (~5:14) by Scott Kessler
?
Do you know the approximate dates for any of those runs? Even the year would be nice to know...
I haven't posted this anywhere in the Gothic section yet, but there is a Gothic discord, where me and other Gothic speedrunners talk: https://discordapp.com/invite/6wCAqeV
Newer strats? I intentionally left out the 4-4 clip and FPG is probably only good for 1-1, but the Bowser kills are way too good. This video by Kosmic is probably the best in this regard:
YAIEYY LATAAY
?
"Honestly surprised no one has thought of this before."
Plenty of people have thought of it. I never made use of it, because you need to jump the exact moment you are back to speed after the 2nd bump and it's imho harder than the elevator bump.
If I understand him right, he doesn't want a highscore leaderboard, but a low% board that prioritizes percentage over time like:
- 5% - 11:00:00
- 5% - 13:00:00
- 6% - 1:00:00
- 10% - 4:00:00
That's not possible unless an admin changes the code. The best you can do is add like 100 hours per percent and hope that suffices.
A dating simulator I submitted also got rejected for being a visual novel.
change the lines "displayFrameruleCounter = true;" and "displayXpos = true;" to "displayFrameruleCounter = false;" and "displayXpos = false;".
Glitchless record won't be tied by 30 people, because the perfect 4-2 is hard, perfect non-walljump is hard and there are always frames to save in 8-4 via fast acceleration. And perfect titlescreen timing too of course, but I think if the category really gets that popular it should be changed to normal timing. Anyway I agree with there being no point in moving it to the main board.
