If the layout graphics go on top of the game/splits/camera, it isn't a background but a foreground, which says something about the priority of certain elements on the stream.
Agreed. although I prefer a 2-edged game stream over a 4-edged one with all the shit on top of it.
0 or 1 edge streams are a big nono though.
Hopefully PC won't have a weapon wheel at all. That is a horrible system for a M+KB setup.
I do not possess the ability to delete threads (to my observations). I see someone else removed the poll threads, I've locked the thread in the main GTA boards.
I'm going to keep this open until Dispersor says something
I dont think having any% be with variables is good, that's what its any% for. Including variables in any% would be useless since it wouldn't invalidate the category in any way.
Instead have the variables only on the classic% leaderboards. (Which due to limitations on sr.com is not possible right now, but just ignore them on the any% leaderboard). You can ditch the warp variables and only keep the TD one, since (so far) everyone agrees that classic% == no taxi/editor/autosave warps.
Consider this. In the end I care nothing about traffic density yes or no, I'm just proposing a mid-way.
Right so I came up with an idea.
See this category. Mess with the dropdown boxes a bit. http://www.speedrun.com/gtaiv#Not_Any_Testcategory
The variables allow you to filter out any run that doesn't stick to 33% traffic density, if you so desire.
I'm not going to say anything about dumping both any% and classic% on the same leaderboards like this (you could), but it could be a nice alternative to having 'multiple' definitions of classic%.
The variables could also help if and when certain other categories, like 100%, all missions etc. take off the ground and having double categories would clutter stuff.
Right now Speedrun.com doesn't let me set variables for only one category, so the variables are also there for any% and classic% on the leaderboards, just ignore those for now when submitting until further response. Talked to Dispersor on IRC and he liked this idea, but I'm not going over gta4 so sort this out yoruself!
B... B... But what about last-second-softlock in Half-Life 2: Episode Two??? BibleThump That's over halfway into a run.
2 if the name remains classic%
1 if the name of the category is changed to something that doesn't include "classic", "historical", "as it used to" or any synonym to that.
Not sure anymore who made the comment, but by changing classic% rulesets you're essentially creating a new category. Classic% is supposed to be a classic run, and by changing the definition you're removing the 'classic' aspect of it (unless of course, you finally want to get rid of the shitty category name and call it something proper)
"accidentally load an autosave"
Game crash
Today its traffic density.
In two months its taxi warps.
Then nothing remains and classic% has turned into any%.
How did people get their Cartel Cruiser wrecked like that even with old strats?
Reminder that classic% is an arbitrary category which has been invented for only two reasons:
1) It is more fun If runners think ending C is more fun, then so let them. If you think it is more fun to run ending A and B, then run that. If you and other people submit enough runs it'll get its category. But of course you could send it the VC any% no duping way and just not do runs so the category will never exist.
2) It is more like classic GTA speedruns. This is the biggest bullshit ever since it is nothing like classic GTA speedruns and I'm not even sure why I am including this in this post. But to go in depth anyway: At least one protagonist character dies permanently in 3d era GTA speedruns. While this further backs up KVD's point, it is a meaningless argument for mentioned reasons.
"getting a sports car would be necessary for it. "
¤Video does mission with a Blista.
Nice
Could also be that the game has some diagonal movement calculation fail (like so many games do). Simple going on the airport strip and going straight vs waving a little bit (as if you're dodging cars, so not too much) should be an easy test for non-lazy people.
