Those videos really help visualize what I was talking about thanks so much :)
From what I can tell for any% runs, 60fps is the best middle ground to have better loading times plus making sure the watering is fast. If anyone disagrees let me know bc I could be wrong though
Somehow the new wr was on 144 or higher I think bc I noticed the watering was really slow and they were behind pace compared to others right after the watering, but somehow they were just fast enough to still get it, they would have saved another few seconds if they were running on 60 I think which is absolutely insane lol
The current any% route is close to being perfect at this point lol, gg on the run :3
Alright I wasn’t sure, I just know running at 60+fps decreases loading times a lot vs capping the game at 30fps which I was doing for all my runs besides depths of hell. If you keep going up in fps past 60 loading times do decrease but not by enough to make it worth it bc as I’ve also found it makes watering slower the higher you go as well.
from what I’ve seen I think capping fps at 60 is the perfect way to go for full runs, but for depths of hell, I let my game go uncapped bc it slightly decreases the loading times even more for me at least it think it does.
Ive started running this game over the past few days, and honestly ive done more experimenting than actually running the game bc im curious to find new strats and such (ive found ways to wall clip and other stuff but nothing viable towards the run yet).
thats not why im here though. ive done more experimenting and watching tons of runs on here and i cant help but notice to the extent your fps value effects the game and how differently some peoples runs are. i started using nvidia to limit my fps to 30 bc it makes the watering go faster, but also ive noticed loading times get longer the lower your fps is as well. running the game with no fps limiter causes my game to load between everything faster but slows down the watering. for the depths of hell runs ive turned off my fps limiter so loading would go faster bc its quite literally impossible to break the world record running at 30 or even 60fps. Also quick question for any runners in the top 3, did you switch to play at 30fps or are you just playing the game as its default fps, just curious
All this to say, i think there should be more research done into this so we all understand why it does this, and also so there can be information for new runners so they can run the game the best. or honestly maybe new rules so the game can be run the exact same by everyone but honestly idk if thats necessary.
im still gonna try finding new strats/glitches and post them in a new thread at some point once i can find viable use for them.
Maybe have it as an extra category?
I actually figured it out. I found that I had to change my refresh rate to 60hz so the game runs at 60fps and it makes the watering go as fast as it needs to be. My default refresh rate is 360hz and I found that the lower I put my refresh rate, the lower the fps the game runs at, so the lower I put my refresh rate the faster the watering goes, although it’s kinda pointless to run it at like stupidly low fps values bc the game itself becomes unplayable, so 60hz/fps becomes perfect for it. Probably should put this info for other people because anyone else with high refresh rate monitors will have the same issue and be confused lol
might run this for fun, but i looked at other runs including last place and the watering section is so much faster then when i play. whenever i water the flowers its around 3-4 seconds slower on each patch of flowers. I originally downloaded the itch.io version but i thought maybe the steam version is faster but theyre the exact same. Is there something im doing wrong? am i running the game wrong? im just confused and i doubt its some tech to make it faster bc even last place has it faster than me and i got a 5:30 with the slower watering (not submitted gonna wait till i get a better time). Im just so fucking confused and help would be appreciated :)
