As Trance mentioned, you want to go to your video settings and change the FPS to variable.
I also made a sticky thread regarding the video settings. http://www.speedrun.com/remake_hd/thread/k2gz7
This sounds really fun! I'd be interested in participating PogChamp

You're welcome! Glad to hear you got everything sorted out PogChamp
Try changing the compatibility settings and mess with it until one works. I've been on a Windows 8.1 system for a few years now and have it currently running as Admin with Windows 8 compatibility mode on. Right click > properties on Joy2K ey > compatibility tab > check the box for compatibility mode and try Windows 8 or XP SP2/3. Check the run as admin box as well then restart Joy2Key.
You can set the device to go to a specific joystick number through options > configure. Although I've never had much luck with it personally since every time I've tried moving the devices around nothing happens. You can still use your controller even if it's binded to Joy2Key. Just make sure to turn it off when you're not using the program so you don't accidentally hit keys playing other games. Not sure if that's what you meant by your question, but if not let me know.
Hope you can get it working :)
Did you run Joy2Key as admin? Sometimes it won't register if you don't set it to run as administrator.
Arrow keys = movement (the one input set with left and right is for the Delayed Input Cancel method). I wouldn't worry about mapping the DIC key since you have to be precise with it to get the maximum time save using it. X = Aim at barrels B = Switch targets when aiming C = Action V = Run M = Map / Skip doors/scenes Z = Inventory S = Aim
Hi! Could you change my name to Roofress? Thanks OpieOP
As far as my knowledge extends this looks like it works on the GC/Wii version. If anyone manages to pull it off in the HD release feel free to share your results. Glitch originally found by blinkuzernm.
This is a trick for after the shark tank in the residence. It takes place in the hallway with the residence map and involves interrupting one cutscene with another and in between them doing a quick turn to start running down the hallway. The sequence of events happens like this:
-bee cutscene (with bees coming through the hole in the wall)
-Jill wanting to walk back (automatic)
-hitting the menu button before she moves back
-using the pesticide while in the menu
-right after exiting the menu by using the pesticide, do a quick turn
-after the quick turn run a little down the hallway as she sprays
I think this could save some time in running down the hallway but will also drain some life as a result of bees attacking.
Just an update on this. I timed it out last night and I think it would come out pretty much the same time if not more time to do this trick. Although, it's a little difficult to time out because it involves finding the correct doorway and hitting that door at the exact moment the bees die. :/
On second thought, I'm gonna leave the changes as is for now. I much prefer the idea having emulator separated from the official console. I know that Rebecca and Anderson both have the means to do either, but I wanna see if there will be future submissions for emulated runs. There might be a slight increase due to the merge so both audiences can be accommodated in that case.
That can be arranged. I was just following what RE1 and RE2 had set.
I've added the Gamecube and Wii runs to the HD boards here with their own respective platform variables. Two new platform variables have been introduced while I've edited the existing console one here to HD Console to represent the HD Remaster release to avoid confusion and maintain consistency across versions. Don't be confused by the new layout. All you need to know is that SD Console is for Gamecube and Wii only while emulator is for Dolphin (GC/Wii emulator), DIOS-MIOS and Nintendont (both are bootloaders for the Wii) only.
All existing runs have been successfully migrated from the original Resident Evil REmake leaderboard with only a total of 3 runs not being added. One for only showing the clear result while the other two runs had been deleted. If I missed anything please notify me or a moderator here!
The title of the game has now been changed from Resident Evil HD Remaster to Resident Evil REmake / HD along with the url to http://www.speedrun.com/remake_hd. I was considering leaving Remaster in the name, but it looks very tacky and I'm sure most people here will still recognize it regardless. I left the box art alone to help with that as well.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion about this last month. Let me know what you think of the changes. :)
Is YOUHOU related to Touhou? OpieOP
Just gonna post this here if anyone is looking to go the virtual audio cable route. Keep in mind that this works best with applications that allow you to change the audio output on your computer. If you listen to music through your browser then you'll be unable to separate the audio since your browser will use whatever default device is active.
Things you'll need:
VB-Cable (scroll down until you see the VB-Cable download) foobar2000 VLC VLC playlist addon (ONLY if you use YouTube for music)
foobar is meant mainly for people who play their music through a media player like Windows Media Player, iTunes, winamp, etc. VLC is an option if you use YouTube as a source for music.
I made a couple screenshots to help with this process so please view them as you read the instructions below!
-
Download what you need from above and install everything. For VB-Cable make sure 'VB-Cable Setup/x64' is ran as Admin or the installation will not work. You'll be prompted with a restart afterwards so do that after foobar2000 and/or VLC has also finished installing.
-
After the restart you'll notice the newly added VB-Cables under your Sound device which can be opened by right-clicking the speaker icon on your desktop's taskbar at the bottom right and selecting either playback/recording device.
-
Change the current default device under the playback tab to the CABLE Input device. This will make sure all the sound you want on stream will come through this input alone.
-
Go to the recording tab and edit properties for CABLE Output. Properties can be accessed by double clicking or right clicking then selecting properties on the device. Check the 'listen to this device' box to enable it and choose the current device that is being used. In my case it's Speakers (Realtek HD Audio), but it can vary depending on your audio setup. Determine this by playing audio and check the sound meter under the playback tab to find the current device accepting input. This will be the device you select for your CABLE Output. Default device for the recording tab does not matter.
5A.
Once you have the VB-Cable setup on your sound taken care of, you can go ahead and make sure the audio output for foobar2000 and VLC is set correctly. I believe foobar already has the default device selected, but it helps to familiarize yourself with finding the preferences and getting use to the media player in general. For foobar2000, press Ctrl+P to open up preferences > playback > output. If the output device is not CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) then everything is fine. If you're looking to add your music library for foobar to scan go to your preferences > media library and add your folders there.
5B.
VLC will require you to change this since the audio is selected automatically. Ctrl+P to enter VLC preferences > Audio Tab and change the output module to DirectX audio output then select Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) or whatever your default device is.
If you're looking to use YouTube as your source of music, then continue reading here. Keep in mind that VLC is not perfect as some videos will give you an error when playing them, or it may fail completely. If you downloaded the VLC playlist add-on make sure to read the installation instructions on the website of it, or click VLC playlist addon to view it again. After you've placed the .lua file into your VLC folder, find a playlist on YouTube and copy the URL of it then go into VLC and press either Ctrl+V or Ctrl+N to stream the URL. You'll get a prompt like this: Yes, I listen to images OpieOP
The playlist should begin shortly after and you can now listen to music on YouTube without it showing up on stream!
-
Go to your OBS settings > audio and change the desktop audio device to Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable).
-
After doing the steps above now you can do a preview stream to test everything out and make sure your music isn't coming through the stream feed. We're looking to only have game and microphone sound only. Everything should be working as intended if there's no music coming through and you're only able to hear it on your end. If you happen to not be able to hear ANY sound, go back and check that the recording properties of CABLE Output and Input are set correctly along with foobar and VLC audio settings.
I hope this helps out with learning how to setup virtual audio cable for your streams. It's not the best, but it gets the job done.
PS: I accidentally posted this in the thread about the JP version a few mins ago Kappa
Yeah, I think Resident Evil REmake is better than having "/" and "HD" alongside the title. Less tacky looking lol.
I did this quickly to have as a reference. I think editing the existing name for the consoles on here would be much easier then add GC/Wii/Emulator. I realized we would have to resubmit everything again if it was done as shown in the picture. OpieOP
I think HD console and SD console would look better. There are variations for original and remaster that could be used if that's preferred. Original (SD) / Remaster (HD) SD (Original) / Remaster (HD) Original / Remaster
I'm not gonna mess around with the boards anymore adding variables. I don't want to accidentally sabotage the boards while trying to remove the temp variables lol. That's pretty much the gist of what it would look like in either photos minus having it as an entirely new variable.
Altering the tabs above where the categories are would require a complete overhaul of the boards again and I really want to avoid that. I assume you're suggesting Original and Remaster/HD as a sub-category/value (where character and platform are) though. I'll have to mess around with the values and see how they look. I feel like the title change alone would help clarify that both versions of the game coexist on the same board.
I had no idea Wii was even under HD for RE4. I just naturally assumed it'd be with GC and PS2 under SD console, but I never saw any Wii runs posted there. Weird. REmake on Wii would be under SD since that game has no relation to the HD release and it looks like the GC version anyway. BabyRage
Try running the game as admin with compatibility mode set to Windows XP SP2/3. I had that issue before with the MediaKite release and that opened up the other video options.
