I can look into that -- that category might fall under one of those "EXTRA:" IL runs.

Now that the CE board has been created, the Companion App will no longer be permitted for IL runs submitted to the original GZ board. Please submit Companion App runs to the GZ Category Extensions board.

Please note: 'Special Any%' and 'Special Stealth, No Kills' runs, with the exception of 'EXTRA:' level runs, MUST USE the companion app. However, the companion app is NOT ALLOWED for 'EXTRA:' level runs.

The process of creating a Category Extension board for GZ has begun recently.

Few announcements:

• 1. The companion app will be banned for ‘EXTRA:’ ILs (which are getting moved to the CE board). These extra categories were created only a few years ago so it will follow same rules as current ILs on the original GZ board.
• 2. The companion app will also be banned for full game runs. There isn’t a plan yet to add companion app full game runs to the CE since doing so would just end up turning into a huge empty board.

With that said, please reach out to me or JosephJoestar316 (GZ Super Mod) if you have any comments, questions, or objections to/regarding this update by/before Thursday, December 28, 2023.

I’ve had this happen to me as well. I don’t think it benefits nor saves time on IL or full game speedruns though. I had this glitch happen during the helicopter mission and the mission had an issue progressing further because of it.

Attention GZ runners:

There will now be a Category Extension board for MGSV Ground Zeroes, which will include/cover the following (at the moment):

1. Any runs that use the Companion App (both ILs and full games) will be moved to the Category Extension board. As you may know, the Companion App is no longer available, so this change is being made to keep the original/existing GZ board up to date. Moving forward, please submit runs that use the Companion App to the Category Extension board. Also, following the creation of the Category Extension board, the use of Companion App will no longer be permitted for IL and full game run submissions for the original/existing GZ leaderboad (please submit these runs to the Category Extension board instead).

2. The "EXTRA:" IL categories (as well as existing runs on those IL boards) will also be moved to the Category Extension board. Each of the ILs on the existing GZ board is already pretty big with numerous categories, so this change is being made to reorganize the IL boards and make them a bit cleaner.

This change/update will begin to go into effect on December 17th, 2023. If you happen to have any objections to or questions regarding this change/update please reach out to me before this date.

I suppose you could try out the ricochet strat (check out the beginning of the IL run below). You could restart checkpoint once Snake climbs up the cliff past the tower, but I doubt it's necessary. You have to time the ricochet shot at a right time at a right spot for the strat to work though.

FYI, if you plan on submitting an IL run or a full game run to the GZ leaderboard, the difficulty doesn't matter much.
