Why can you not use Shift+V in the Any% run?

Wouldn't it be more proper to call it an Any% (No Skip) run?

The Shift+V "trick" is programmed into the game, it's not some external tool or weird gameplay trick - it's part of the game and I think it should be included in the Any% runs; the goal is to beat the game as fast as possible using ANY means necessary.

Shift-V is a means that's programmed into the game, I think it should be allowed.

(The original game has this Shift+V trick as well)

What is the point of calling it any% if it's going to have restrictions on how you achieve any%? This would be NoSkip% or something, not any%, right?

There isn't any reason to add this as a new category though, due to the reasons I outlined? There is nothing to be gained by doing all the achievements, they are extremely hard to track unless you're doing it on the Steam version and you constantly reset your achievements, and they overall wouldn't add anything to the run that was worth.. doing.

Happy to provide some more information but if you read my post above I have a real hard time justifying why a new category for this would be needed.

Hey I know my submitted run isn't a first place run or anything but it's been a few months since I submitted it, are the moderators even active on this game?

None that I am aware of. It's a short enough run that your best bet is just to watch some of the top times.

Are the runs here done with the "Remastered Gameplay" toggle flipped on?

I've read from a dev that one of the changes with this setting is The Old Mine Road RNG is more favorable toward weapons you do not already have, but this does indeed change the RNG for the only hard part.

Most of the cheevos are story-related, you cannot avoid getting them. There are 14 achievements you can miss but they don't add too much to an overall run. Most of them just involve listening and exploring the world and the people, but in a speedrun you skip past those, even if you want to initiate them.

It's hard to track 100% without the cheevo notices and you cannot reset the progress on those easily.

To unlock these ones, you just talk to someone or something. Either over and over, or exhausting all their dialogue options with no puzzle/thought needed to the order of which you pick them.

  • I Can Do That! - Play a game of 5 Finger Fillet.
  • News to Me: Watch the entire news broadcast in the bar.
  • Know Mo - Go through all of Mo's initial dialogue.
  • Angels With Dirty Face - Go through all of Todd's dialogue.

These ones involve just sitting around, they will be a static time-addition to every run.

  • Burn-In Rubber: Go "afk" and wait for a screensaver to appear.
  • Thank No Cats: Watch the credits until the very end.

These ones involve just looking at an item in game, but because you're skipping cutscenes it might be hard to tell if you actually performed the action.

  • Not Puttin' My Lips On That - Use lips on 10 things.
  • Minking Memories - Look at a photograph in Mo's place.
  • Hard Tale - Look at a photograph at Mink Ranch.

Like the above these ones are unique actions but you can skip the animations and there isn't a lot of indication you've done it outside of the original cheevo notification.

  • Rabbit Ragu - Use a bunny on the engine fan.
  • LOOMing Seagull - Use the machine gun on the truck.

This one seems like an easy to track one, but any deaths at all is basically grounds to restart your run in the existing Any% is my guess.

  • Burger Well Done - Defeat Ripburger without dying.

Is it against the rules to use Shift+V to defeat bikers faster? I see a few videos and they're very good at downing bikers quickly when they need it but I thought it would be overall just faster to press Shift+V to down them.

Am I wrong? Is this disallowed?
