Hello, I was wondering if emulation of the PS2 or Wii version would be allowed for submitting?
I agree. I discussed this prior in the Discord and thought things would be more fair if we used LTR. I did a lot of research because certain emulators like Beetle and Duckstation can get through load screens faster under certain settings while the gameplay remains the same. Normal PS1 copies wouldn’t stand a chance since they are technically the slowest way to play the game. Even PS2 runs will almost always out pace PS1 runs because PS2 had a built in load time enhancer for PS1 games so it will always be faster. I also studied the time it takes for load times on Native PS1 and emulated PS1 runs, and found a few of the runs currently on board that are emulated have slightly accelerated loading speeds than how they should be with the default settings.
With all these variables that can cause loading times to be so different, I think LTR is the way to go.
If the board is changing from RTA to LTR, I think I might be motivated to try runs again. Also amazing work dude!
As we wait for the new map to be added as a level, I was thinking it might be a good idea to add a new category based on the uniqueness of the new map. In Ode to Castlevania, there is 30 (technically 31) bosses scattered across the map. I think it would be a good idea to add a category where the run is based around killing all 30 bosses. I think there is a lot of interesting ways it can go since you can fight all the bosses in any particular order and the new weapon that boosts damage each time a boss is killed.
I think this would be a fun category and I would love to hear your thoughts.

I think it wouldn’t hurt to have two categories, at least for those that want to focus on specifically winning with the character vs. using the best combination of capsules. I also think it should be required to show what capsules were used for the run.
If the two were to be one category, then there should be something when the run is uploaded to say “Capsules” or “No Capsules” that the runner selected. Showing the capsule rule should still apply. At least that is my thoughts.

Might be worth messaging the moderator of the board about this idea. I think it would be a good idea too.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way due to the hardware limitations. Computers can just load the games faster in either the windows or Dreamcast emulator.
