If you feel like the leaderboard is lacking a category, do a run of said category, submit it to the non-existent category, and we'll consider adding a category for it. No promises though.
Delete your gta_vc.set file in your Documents folder.
That's the main issue with that rule, it's obvious and clear once you understand it, but trying to put it into words isn't an easy thing to do without at least creating some confusion for people not quite understanding what is meant by it.
But that is kind of the point why we have a discord in the first place, so questions like this can be cleared.
It isn't clear from the written rules, but the general consensous is that, in order to do an IL, you are allowed to use cheats IN CASE they don't have any direct effect and the same results can be be achieved without using cheats.
You could, for example, given that it's possible in the game already, use cheats to spawn a hydra to do the IL. The obvious exception are cheats that directly affect the IL like invincibility. So the menu screen isn't actually anything to go by.
The reason we had the rule to show the start of the game was that substats were not properly reset when you just started a new game. In order to start Amphibious Assault, you need a certain level of lung capacity. You could, theoretically, start a game, get to 0.9 of the first tick of lung capacity, then start a new game without restarting the .exe, and get the first tick of lung capacity almost immediately.
Since Amphibious Assault is no longer done due to Wooze Skip, that point is now moot.
It was removed in the enhanced versions because it was very similar to Docks to Stock I and II. (According to gta.wikia) What you need to do is basically steal a cargobob. Why it's misspelled is beyond me.
Pretty sure the point is that grenades count for the rampages, because any explosion counts. Even if you could switch to other weapons, you wouldn't get credit for the kills.
Hi, I'm not trying to start a discussion or anything, I'd just like to know why emulators are banned. The game seems to emulate fine on my end (and does not actually run on 300% speed as the PCSX2 wiki falsely suggests), while the PC version actually DOES run quite a bit faster than it should (among other issues with audio not playing properly).
Give it a couple of years and we will get LCS and VCS with proper mouse support. PC ports will come.
Would appreciate if you'd change my name to PowerSlaveAlfons
German puns don't really work well in an english speaking community. :D
Thanks in advance.
Considering the #gta community's stance on anything external as it is, I'm really surprised it's been allowed for so long. The game natively supports actual controllers, and if you have to play with the atrocity that is an X360 controller, there's ways and means. Using GInput gives you an advantage (no matter how little, it is an advantage), and seeing as it is an external tool (that isn't written or even recommended by Rockstar) there is no reason it should be allowed, again, looking at the stance the #gta community has on external tools to begin with.
XInput was a horrible mistake and killed proper controller support by the way.
(I vote A if Ihave to explicetly state it, duh.)
The thing is, we kinda need a final word on the date.
Appearently it's been known that it speeds up NPC animations, but seemingly no one bothered to test if it works for player movement and things like timers.
The basic gist of the quicksave glitch is that everytime you quicksave the game jumps forward a little bit. I don't exactly know why that is, but every animation is sped up. NPCs move quicker, the next line of dialogue at the end of mission debriefing appears quicker, timers, like in Pavlov's house, pass quicker, and, most importantly, player movement is faster.
All you need to do is to constantly spam the quicksave button, which is rebindable. Mouse-wheel seems to work aswell.
Just comparing Sawyer's 1:18 in Pathfinder without quicksave-glitching
to a quick, sloppy attempt of mine, with quicksave-glitching
makes it pretty obvious.
The matter of fact is that there have been runs that were verified with inaccurate timing, and instead of simply correcting that, all I've seen DarkViper do was defend the inaccuracies that are easily correctable instead of, you know, correcting them and going on with his life.
This, of course, along with other mods that simply verified runs without looking at them or not even being active at all has resulted in people being unhappy with how the leaderboard was being run. Since this has been a topic that has come up time and again, action needed to happen, and things have been changed. Rye stepped up, got the chance to "fix" the leaderboards, and he took the time to do it.
The reasons people weee unhappy with the previous officials of the leaderboards were of factual nature, specifically wrong times that have been getting through. The top priority of a leaderboard is to at least have the most basic rules to be followed, which are, in a speedrunning context, obviously the start and end points of timing. These, as I've mentioned countless times now, are easy enough to check and correct should the runner have made a mistake.
Considering the literal only arguments I've seen mentioned here against Rye can be summed up by "he's a terrible person," no good actual reason as to why he shouldn't be given control of the leaderboards have been brought forward. Personal warfare has no place on a speedrunning leaderboard, much like S. mentioned, and therefor only factual reasoning should be used to determine who is taking over mod duties, and Rye has shown that he is willing (and so far capable) of doing just that.
And for the love of god, insults and personal attacks have no place on this forum, and are not helping the discussion whatsoever, so please, refrain from doing that.
I'm aware that I'm not the most active runner in this game, but I've been part of this community for quite a while now, so I feel like my opinion is still relevant enough to at least be heard.
Should DxWnd not work for some reason or another, you can also use D3DWindower for the same effect.
I'm still of the opinion that this is supposed to be some kind of "containment board" for categories that just aren't valid enough to make it onto the main leaderboards. Stuff like 69HP and Low% Bad Ending started out as an in-joke, sure, but I figure you might aswell use this for them. People have been doing runs of them, and this is the easiest way to keep track of categories like that. This board isn't meant to be pretty, it's not meant to be perfectly organized, it's not meant to be an accurate representation of what speedrunning a GTA game really is. It's just a list of "fun" categories that might not even make any sense, but people have been doing regardless. There's no need to impose Quality Standards on something like this, it's just, like I said, a simple way to keep track of these "runs".
