FranceRules and Full Game categories are now updated. Timer now starts when starting a new save on new game runs, and when kicking down 1-1's first door for NG+ runs.
Played some full game run, here's how I timed them :
- Timer start at the same time of level 1 timer, after kicking the first door (best way to easily time the start of a run)
- Beat every non-skippable levels in order
- Here's where there's leeway, we either stop the timer when the last level is complete (5-4 The Last Kick) or we play The Crime Minister scene, kick the hell out of him (it's the canon ending, fight me) and end the timer the instant you hit the ground and the screen goes black.
I quite like this last one. Looking for the fade to black is gonna be a real easy way to perfectly time runs , plus we get to have the end of the game. Which does make senses when the goal of speedrunning is getting to the end.
I'll update the rules of full game runs in a week, in case someone would like to suggest another way.
It's not faster in a straight line but it will help you carry momentum around corners or if you need to grab a energy drink on the side.
I'll add every categories for the full game on top of the demo categories then every single level in the game, then every shoes... i'm on it!

I've been brainstorming the options for a "number of kill" related leaderboard and here's the best I got : Using the hours part of your time to mark the number of kill, exemple : One run with 2 kills and a time of 1:25.56 would be " 2h 1m 25s 560ms" One other run with 3 kills and a time of 23.20 would be "3h 0m 23s 200ms"
And even tho the 2nd run is faster, it would still be lower than the 1st in the leaderboard, which is exactly how we need it to work. Any thoughts on that? I feel like it's perfect, i can also add a variable to mark the number of kill just to make it look better
I'll just add pacifist% as the 5th individual level category if you guys like the idea
We can also now specify which shoes were used in the run. ( Mainly Air Violence, Corridor Blasters and Plain Tekkies at the moment. ) In the future, if someone want to submit a run with some other shoes than these 3, just select the default Plain Tekkies and I'll be adding the correct shoes myself. I'm glad I took the time !
I finally took the time and set up Plain Tekkies and Any Shoes as sub-categories, I had to manually look for every fullgame run and edit them but there it is, look at it. Look how fancy it looks. Pretty cool.

More seriously, what runs are you talking about? Could you point it to me so that I can fix it?
Pacifist is absolutly going to be a thing when the game come out, I tried every level in the itch.io release and had a lot of fun, until the release we might add it as a category if people wanna run it but we have to decide for the rules. Level one is all fun and games but try Level two for exemple and it becomes a world of pain in the steam version lol :) But not impossible My point being some level are so hard that the category should probably be about finishing the level with the lowest kill count so we would need a leaderboard with both time and kill count ( which I don't know how to do yet ) Who's excited for pacifist%?
Self-limitation like these are indeed a cool way to play a bit differently and it may suit your playstyle more, you are welcome to submit runs with self-imposed challenge! As for creating a whole new category for it, if more members of the community thinks the same we may implement it ! A drinkless full game category is fine because we can just put it in misc. and it wouldn't take too much place, but for individual levels it would take too much place I feel like, there's future pretty cool category we may implement like Pacifism which is made for individual level, etc.
I don't know what are people thought but I feel like if you did a drinkless run of the demo we could create the leaderboard for!
Alright, I filled in the 4 base categories. I also renamed individual levels so that it is from level 1 to 11, since that's the direction the devs went to name levels, what do you guys think about that? Can't wait for those boards to be filled with people :)
Since we all agree on the categories, I guess it's a go ! And I'm all about joke categories too obviously :)
And let's officially go for "Thanks for playing" as the final end time method. We have a consensus for that too.
And just to be sure, Dylenoyer and I discussed that any% runs with the old corridor blasters are now obsolete , sorry for the runners! Are we all agreeing on that? In case of future gameplay-related patch we'll decide on the go too.

I have checked on Icmolreulf, their request got nope'd for some trivial reason, so they just made a new one. We are getting closer !!
By the way, you guys can join the Free Lives discord whenever, there's a bit of community on there, expecially for speedrunning, and for easier chatting than on the forums.
IMO old corridor blaster run should absolutly be removed yeah ! the changes are huge
User Unlucky on the Free Lives discord ACTUALLY made a tas of Slums 1 , slowing down his game and pulling off a time of 4.66 !!! He was able to dash from the tv directly to the end trigger, which is the worst to pull off, but the potential time save for actual runs is huge !!
just in case it's not clear, my request was declined because i'm not a mod but now that every mod are okay, let's make this happend!
