Off of @caeonosphere, I'd say that you should allow the user to decide three runs to pin/star at the top of their profile.
Oreo321: Possibly, but could you expand on that? Do you mean allowing a user to select the order that games show up on their profile? Maybe there are other ways to customize that aren't as clear
April 2022: Thanks for bringing this idea to life! Woo!
Add a new verification stamp if a run verification is marked as a "reverification." This would be a useful log for runs on a leaderboard that requires a mass retiming due to a rule change.
Example:

I was thinking about how un-useful the guides page is and was wondering about creating a "sticky" guide that could show that a guide is relevant to current speedruns. You could even add page-views to show how useful a guide is.
Then, I thought about it some more.
Scrap the guide page.
Add the ability to mark a forum post as a guide. That's where people usually post basic guides, anyway.
Then, you can have sticky, locked guides all in one place and update them right there where everyone is talking, not in some dusty corner of the website where new players never know to look.
Cheers :)))
Site crashed again while retiming runs. And, 18 hours ago, Xeapnea wasn't able to load his full speedrun page (see above). August 20th, site crashed in the morning. And once in the afternoon.
https://www.speedrun.com/post/hg9fw "There's nothing we can do about it" is not a solution.
Start a Kickstarter or promote a Patreon Stretch Goal to get funding for server expansion. Please allow your 200K daily page visitors to invest a little in the product. I haven't seen any other popular website on the internet crash as much as this one does.
Edit: Ahh, SGDQ Online is happening at the end of August of all times. What a twist. In any case, it'd be nice if the site wouldn't crash during GDQ events.
6-4 Alternate Wall Climb Skip Discovery -- summary after an hour or two of testing
It doesn't work yet. Why? Because you have to load the next part of the zone by running somewhere past Brutus's wall. However, once you run past Brutus's wall, the only way to get up to the key is with a jump storage, so you can't use jump storage again to clip into the ceiling.
Also tested: Backwards ledge jump with Alex gets him most of the way up the wall, but there's no way to switch him to Olly there.
Hmm, maybe its an issue with download speed of your internet. Have you tried recording a run on 4G?
Hey all!
Circinus, our new moderator, has kindly agreed to help me retime all the runs on the leaderboard with https://mattbraddock.com/yt-frame-timer/
This will provide frame-perfect retiming for all runs on the leaderboard before August 15th, 2020.
All runs taking place after August 15th, 2020 will be retimed by a moderator with yt-frame-timer, as well.
We are dividing the work as such (in case anyone disputes a time, talk to the retimer):
- Circinus retimed all of New Game+, including obsolete runs (which only happen in World 1).
- Oxknifer retimed all Any% runs (including obsolete), all 100% runs (including obsolete), and all ? individual levels (which have no obsoletes).
Timing changes:
- We will no longer be retiming with/without load times. We will only retime with load times for the time being.
- Individual levels have been stripped of their real time times to standardize the method of timing. All individual levels will now be timed with the in-game timer. ? individual levels, which do not have an in-game timer, will be timed with yt-frame-timer
- Time used to start when the button to begin the first level is pressed. Sometimes, the button pressed is not visible in the video. To standardize timing across runs of different categories, time will start on the first frame that the cat opens its mouth to meow and ends when the facial expression changes when hitting the finish line. (In any game, timing should start based on the first action of the user, but if you think about it, the meow is still caused by pressing the level button. We don't lose any user actions by starting time on the meow.)
Edit: A vote took place in the Neutronized Discord on 8/15/2020 on whether to retime with loads, without loads, or by adding up IGT. Main argument: Timing without loads is much more accurate, but takes a heck of a long time to complete.
With Loads: Oxknifer, MrUppercaseT, GODCHUECO, Zambrini voted Without Loads: Circinus, DarkShadow voted IGT Add-Up: GODCHUECO voted
Based on this community vote, we will continue retiming with loads for the time being. If users would like to retime their runs without loads and keep record of it in the run comments, they are more than welcome to do so.
Not sure what you mean by "where bells dont move" Bells never move...?
Unchecking "separate load times" removes all "real time with loads" and "real time without loads" times. This leads to a leaderboard with no times: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/524334457583304742/743576399985639425/unknown.png?width=844&height=406
That's ...really sucky. When unchecking the "separate load times" box, it would be nice for a prompt to appear that asks me which of the time columns I would like to save into the new "Time" column.
Oreo: I'm aware that the times are hidden, I'd just like the option to select which one (between without loads and with loads) becomes the new time column.
Please read the rules for each category and let me know if you have questions.
I've just removed "separate load times" from the leaderboards. In our competition, we wanted to separate them because some users thought it was more fair to time without loads. However, I think that's not as necessary now that the competition is over.
What this means is that the whole leaderboard needs to be retimed, oof.
Please message me on discord so I can send you some screenshots of what to look for when timing.
Edit: For those wondering why the leaderboard has no times, don't worry. Circinus and I are taking care of it.
The times aren't placeholders -- these were times calculated by the verifiers during a Mobile Speedrunning Discord competition. I can't remember exactly how retiming was done, though, so the times could be inaccurate. This competition was held before tools like https://mattbraddock.com/yt-frame-timer/ were created.
If you'd like to try your hand at retiming, yt-frame-timer instructs users on how to do frame-perfect timing in YouTube :)) If you do want to learn it, send me a message and I can make you a moderator.
Please remove D.E.M.O. as a mod from https://www.speedrun.com/scbros -- he has been inactive on the site for a month
Got in the mood to do some more skip hunting, here's what I've found so far. Credit goes to @MrUppercaseT for the very useful backwards ledge jump.
2-3 Shop Skip using backwards ledge jump: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/409020609880653827/742933700957831278/Screenshot_20200811-213244.jpg?width=849&height=406
6-6 as Alex and Brutus only using menu storage:
6-7 with backwards ledge jump (All credit to MrUppercaseT for this one, I'm just copying what he found)
3-3 Out of Bounds Bell Collection with backwards ledge jump:
2-7 Shinji meets Shinji confirmed (can climb up the rocks out of bounds):
3-7 Switch skip with a backwards ledge jump:
4-7 Out of Bounds with Amy -> Shinji menu storage:
6-7 Switch skip using a backwards ledge jump. Enables full game runners to use Olly starting at 5-8 if they so desire :)
Don't cut the missed attempts. Full video without splices will ensure you have a valid run :)
Update: Playing this game on BlueStacks will allow you to progress until Level 30. I got a "cannot connect to internet" error after reaching level 30. I assume this is because the game was trying to download levels that may not exist any more. If anyone is actually able to get past level 30 on BlueStacks, let me know.
For now, I've done two things:
- Added a "First Zone" Full Game category, which includes the first 30 levels.
- Reduced ILs from 100 levels to 30 levels.
After selecting "Okay" to delete a level, if you happen to click "edit" before the option box disappears, the screen goes dark as if a modal will appear and freezes: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/524334457583304742/742832603303903242/unknown.png?width=810&height=406
Gotcha, thanks for the suggestions!
