Hey there,
please be aware that the only version that is currently fully compatible with the AutoSplitter is the GoG version of the game together with the AiO patch by UCyborg that can be found on the speedrun.com page here in the "Resources" section. If you are not using the AiO patch you might have anomalies such as features not working.
Yes the steam version is the european version. The american version has the changes that you mentioned. The ObsCure fan wiki should have a list of most, or all changes. It is not really mentioned here, as it is also the slower version. Creating a new category is something I really do not want to do, as the game really has enough at this time. If there would be enough runs of said version we could create it, but I feel like it is very unlikely. However the game page is being updated in near time with specification of rules, recommendations, usage of autosplitter and updated LRT times of the runs. What I might see us doing is adding a variable to the runs to identify the versions used, but not as a new category.
Absolutely amazing run. Didnt believe it could be improved so much!
Regarding the AutoSplitter, I have just made a few changes to it. Reason was that sometimes it would not split correctly. This might even fix your issue.
If LiveSplit does not prompt you that it was updated, delete the "TheSufferingPrisonIsHell.asl" file from your components folder in the LiveSplit directory and restart LiveSplit. After that, open the edit splits menu and enable the AutoSplitter. Still, feel free to add me on discord in case you need help with it.
Hey there,
you should be able to add them by right clicking somewhere on LiveSplit -> Edit Layout -> Timer -> Detailed Timer.
If you are talking about the AutoSplitter. It currently has some bugs, but I will update it in the next few days. That might also resolve the issues. Feel free to hit me up on Discord though, then we might be able to fix it for you as well.
Hey everyone, I would like to add a small information to the glitchless ruleset because I discovered something today that I dont think is known.
In chapter 9 "Oblivion Regained" once you leave a cave, there is a flashback with the inmates hanging the CO's. This flashback can be skipped by just walking on the right side, and also keeping your camera to the right (not looking at the tree, ideally in first person because your FOV is way smaller). I think this should be allowed because it does not require you to do weird tricks like in chapter 17 in the other categories where you have to jump around the cutscene trigger at the tree, and this is 100% consistent as well.
Video for reference: (flashback visible at 10:00), again just walk on the right side and keep your camera to the right.
This however has no use in other categories because it its always skipped.
Im not sure if we should allow runs like this to be honest. Other games set a limit just to make sure that more powerful PC's do not get more advantage. I am not a fan of creating even more categories in this game because I think at this point it has more than enough.
In my opinion we should just let it as it is (60 fps?) It seems to tedious and I dont know if you can let the game run at 1000 fps and be able to save a lot of seconds if not minutes. Would also like to know if this really does not improve running speed. Because if it does it is a clear no go from me.
I wrote Yuma and Wh1teLight, but did not get an answer to this yet. I want to do my final runs for this game and now I dont know if this will even be allowed in the future.
Even though this thread is very old I still think some sort of Discord for ObsCure 1 and ObsCure 2 would be cool. Makes it way easier to communicate and keep the game a little bit alive.
Something I wanted to add here:
I figured out why my game was glitching around with npcs, getting stuck etc. The problem was that my monitor was on 144hz. I changed it to 60hz and now its working properly.
Yes I had the same thing happening to me, after the first truck segment theres like a 50% chance that you might just end up in nothing and have to restart checkpoint, should be totally fine.
I agree with the pavillion skip, we allowed it in the first game so I would say we will allow it here too. I will add to the rules that the usage of the AiO patch is recommended, but not necessary.
Very nice, I will also do my run soon. One thing that I would like to ask you Droogie, do you think we should not allow the pavillion jumps in chapter 6? It feels very tedious for a glitchless run and I am not sure if we should allow it, but on the other hand we allow simillar things in The Suffering 1, for example climbing on the ship. I think that would be the last thing that we need for the rules.
Also are you using the AiO patch? I am using the GoG version and the unpatched version crashes a lot, npcs have problem finding their way, which results in the player unable to continue the game, somethings getting stuck in the level geometry (mostly when you roll through somewhere and you fall down, you are stuck in the wall) and more things. The AiO patch fixes most of those problems and also allows you to choose higher resolutions. I think for a glitchless run it should be allowed. I put it in the Ressources tab.
