Hey! I'm just confused about what seems to me like a potential consistency issue in the current rules of RSG. Specifically, this regards the rule of "Banned techniques include: [...] X-Ray glitches". The rule itself is straight-forward, but I don't quite get how the rule seems to be applied in practice. Let me explain.

It's super common for RSG runners to go into the third person camera mode while in boats, then positioning their camera in such a way that they can see what's going on on the ocean floor without the darkness of the water obscuring their view (in case my description isn't easy enough to understand, here is a screenshot of what I'm referring to: https://imgur.com/5vUIvrA). From my understanding this is completely allowed, and is used in multiple verified runs (mikeyboytv's 14:26 for instance).

The inconsistency, or thing I'm confused about, anyway, is that while that's allowed, something like the subject in this thread: https://www.speedrun.com/mc/thread/4p6pp is considered a glitch and is disallowed from the category. Quoting SpeedNintendo: "We decided that this form of xray would be considered a glitch and as such would only be allowed in glitched runs".

To me, this seems like it's essentially the same mechanic being used to achieve a very similar result, but one use of it is banned, and one isn't. I find this kind of difficult to wrap my head around. What is the difference that makes one banned and the other one not?

It also makes me wonder about a potential scenario: Let's say someone submitted a run where they're running around in third person, and their camera accidentally clips into a wall, which reveals a bastion/fortress or something similar. Would that run then be rejected, or allowed? They did effectively abuse a banned technique, however not intentionally. How would that be treated?

Would love to hear anyone's thoughts on this or possibly an "official explanation".

I apologize if anything I said seems rude or aggressive, I just want to be very clear because I don't really understand this very well and I would like to. Thanks :)
