Start the timer on screen fadeout after selecting Game from the Character Selection screen OR on the last input in the instructions menu
Time stops when you hit Knuckles once, causing him to say "OH NO!"
This is an interesting idea. Honestly, when it comes to "True Boss Rush"...You could just have it be "Time starts on first painting entrance" and if you want, include dark side, but that depends, and "Time ends on multi moon grab or last hit on bowser" If you include dark side things will be more complicated, and honestly, I think true bowser would be a good idea since the only other run you see him in is all missions. It is up to the community, just throwing ideas out there.
I can see what KingJ is saying. Sure, in speedrunning it is important to learn tricks, but when something that takes time to master like clipping, and may also ruin the experience for some, it should potentially seperate. Honestly, I think both ideas are cool, I think all story missions is good, and I might add all story events one day if there gains interest. I just wanted to clarify in my comment on what you wanted. I'll keep all story missions the same, but if there is other stuff, we'll add rules or seperate categories.
So "All story events"? I think that could work, not sure if there is a good naming scheme for it or not. Let me get this straight for rule changes:
No skipping events such as obtaining each multi moon in each kingdom, klepto, moon cave, or anything crucial to the story? We still want this to be a speedrun, so I don't think should turn into a no major skips and highly restricted category, but I think it could make a good category. Stuff like Dino jump or other skips that skip 8-bit sections I don't think should count. I think it should just be stuff that trigger cutscenes, or text boxes from cappy. Of course we skip the cutscenes we can, but still have them visible for a second.
To clarify:
No events that'd trigger a cutscene be skipped. (Moon Cave, Skipping Barriers in Snow, Klepto) However, stuff like dino skip or rainy metro jumps, or wooded jump is fine because it doesn't change the story.
Thoughts?
Yes. The idea is you can't skip the ones you would in world peace.
It is True Any% because there is no restrictions. The meaning of it is to not outlaw any tricks, and simply beat the game as fast as possible.
My mistake, when typing up the rules in my head I was gonna say "not allowed" but forgot the not. I guess I'll just have to use the word banned to make things easier from now on. Rules are fixed.
Sounds cool, that would be a different sand and snow, and technically cascade but 1.0.0 is already banned. a 6 moon difference could be interesting, I'll ask a mod for permission before I add it as a category. How do we name it? "Clip-less World Peace"?
d101, as much as I like to give everyone a chance to submit to the leaderboards, you need to meet the requirements for a video, and of course the requirements of "all purple coins". Keep in mind if video is too much of a hassle for you, you don't need to upload them to the leaderboards. Just have fun with running the game, a leaderboard shouldn't stop you from having fun running the game.
There is no definitive route of 100 pagies, but I recommend looking at PC WR or Kimpie's Console WR
I thought of a Max% category, thoughts?
Which contains...
- Map
- Chaco's Lipstick
- Panties
- Arms Barrier
- Alien Medal
- Bubbline
- Missile
- Turbocharge/Whimsical Star/None if you stick with snake or polar star
- Life Capsules
- Missile Expansions
- Red Ogre Badge
- Mushroom Badge
- 290 Counter
- Iron Bond
If you finish a run for example, and reset and do another run, some text may be skipped like the opening cutscene with Kazuma, hell text, or just some text loading a second or so faster before a boss. What do you think?
You literally can boot up the game, start a file, then go to main menu and you would skip the kazuma cutscene. The rest may save only like 5 seconds on switch considering cutscene skipping on switch, but PC has to mash.
What do you think? Should PC have to re-open? Should Steam have to re-open?
Personally I think Switch takes a bit to re-open and it doesn't take much time out if you replay in your session for the next run if you reset. What do you think? I want Switch to be able to just go back into runs without going to home menu, but let me know what you think! (Cutscene skip would skip almost all that time).
I can't speak for the Steam community, as I don't run that.
Let me know your thoughts.
You need magnesis for Thunderblight, not stasis. But regardless, you need to grab the rune to pass the shrine.
I'd say just have one category called any%, which like any%, is any means necessary to beat the game. Then there should be a No amiibo any% category in my opinion. I know horse only saves a few minutes, but it only seems right to split them apart.
Having this error, thought I should mention so it can be fixed if it isn't just me. https://imgur.com/a/K9GTu
