I feel like we should remove the "Squidward Jams" Minigame from the "All Minigames" category. It wastes a lot of run time, not to mention there isn't even any time save opportunities that I know of in that minigame.
Can you add 16 star as a category, because it isn't there yet...
It still lets me post on this account in school, but even when I'm out of school it still deleted the main account (which then I had to remake it every time it happened), Although it sucks, I can still deal with the 2 accounts.
If I've learned anything from games like Pencil Sharpening Simulator (there's a speedrun for almost 20Hrs), is that people will be willing to speedrun anything, so I feel like it should be added, even if it's a meme category, or just thrown into the misc category. Because it is one of the main goals of the game, so it would make sense to be on the leaderboards.
the DS version is the most different (and worst) version of the game, so I think it should also have it's own category. I'd suggest changing the PSP category into a "Portables" category, then just have sub categories for each system.
If I were to play Mario 64, it would most likely be 16 stars at first, but I'd like to run a more weird category like Mario Cam 16 star or 31 stars.
Miscellaneous Time saves
The Time saves:
- Using start to skip cutscenes rather than mashing "A" ( NewGame+ Only :/ )
- Atlantis Room 2 Better Route
- Volcano Time Save
I think it's safe to say sub 1:06:30 is VERY MUCH possible :)
If you have the accessory for it, I'd suggest Active Life: Outdoor Challenge, it's short but an interesting game to play/stream. If not, most speedrunners start with Super Mario 64 16 star due to it being short, and generally easy to run.
I guess I'll post here since a lot of users are, but anyway I'm a fellow nerd and game fanatic who's interest in speedrunning which grew from TAS runs and GDQs and the like so I've decided to make an account so I can throw my metaphorical hat into the ring of speedrunning. I mainly run games less than 10 minutes and find speedrun strats for games at the moment due to not having a way to stream to twitch, but once I do I plan on running full games like Atlantis Squarepantis DS, Skate it (wii), and obviously, Mario 64. I currently post my speedruns on my old gaming channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_g8kE-F28qH7_eS7bI57gA (Which I'll probably rename soon) so If you want to see me run games nobody knows about, that's the place to go. I guess that's the end of this, so thanks for reading!!
Main account (because my other account won't let me post in the forums for some reason): https://www.speedrun.com/user/NinjastarReviews
I guess make it RTA only....
I've tried posting on my main: https://www.speedrun.com/user/NinjastarReviews
But every time it did it would just delete my account, so I got annoyed after the 3rd time of trying and just made a second account...
I have tried to skip the doors in the volcano area, but It seems whenever the game has a door they don't want you to pass, they have a giant invisible wall blocking you, even if you go out of bounds. So skipping the blue door has proven to be currently impossible when I tried too. Hopefully this will change in the future.
But could you please share the OOBs in Coral Cave Room 2 so I can experiment and see if any time save is possible.
stuff I'm working on:
-I have found a way to make it through all but one room in the volcano area without sandy (It's the candle room, but it has a changing box), but I don't know how much time it would save, if any at all....(it involves the wrongwarp glitch)
-and some better movement on certain rooms. (posted below)
Ghost Ship Skip
This is a very consistent glitch used to skip the ghost ship, saving around 1:40 of game time. It was also discovered by accident :P
This will be the central hub for any new strats/glitches discovered. It will just keep this forums more streamline and easy to navigate. Anyone else can join in the search for sub 1 hour.
Based on what I've messed around with from trying to develop strats, I think the box's position on the map affects what the position is when you spawn, because the first box in the volcano has been consistent on spawning the character behind the entrance in the other stage in Mu, and the other stage of Mu's box consistently spawns you in front of the first sandy block in the volcano. So maybe when you reset it saves the last X & Y coordinate you spawned (after you leave the box) and when you reset it never overrides that value so when you enter a stage it just loads that position from memory. I don't know that much about programming, but that seems like it would be a plausible reason for the glitch existing.
I suppose it would make sense to classify them as emulator
can you add plug and play as a category, because although it's a awful way to play the game, the Atgames systems still exist and are classified as a plug in and play consoles. You also forgot to add gba because of sonic genesis.
Since Namco Museum was added to the switch, you should add that console now (It's a challenge to find a console that Pac-Man WASN'T ported to) It was also on plug in and play btw
N-Gage is also a version, but I heard it contains less levels, so It might have to be a separate category.
