Ye solo lobbies are possible since October 2021 with the Arcade update

The game doesn't end when only one player is left in the lobby bc people can rejoin at any time

"no party" wasn't specified in the rules lol

Benefits would be that the Party Games community retimes their runs in a specific way to account for ping (e.g. Jungle Jump is timed slightly differently than Hypixel; the timer ends when the player lands on the final platform).
