Hello. Wondering if it's possible if other difficulties can be added as categories? Thanks in advance.
Y'alllll. So I got a Perplexus Original. It's pretty fun, albeit me being pretty terrible at it. However, at some point I'd like to start running it. Seems pretty straightforward that one can record with a GoPro and just upload said video when a run is complete. But is it possible to stream from a GoPro into something like OBS, or are there any specific cameras you need to do so?
Hello. I've been testing out WinFellow. It appears I got everything to work. It actually looks and runs pretty well; you can definitely tell the difference versus MSDOS versions.
Only problem, one major, one minor.
Major one is I don't understand how diskloading works.
It appears there are four vessels for floppy disks. Generally, I insert all disks. I can start the game off disk one no problem, but generally somewhere in the game, usually pretty early, the game will ask my to put disc 2 in slot 0. So, I can back out, and insert the second disk into the first slot, and go back to emulation, but nothing seems to happen or to work?
The minor problem is I can't figure out why keyboard inputs aren't working (mouse works fine, more or less).
Anyone have familiarly with Amiga computers and how disc loading was suppose to work?
Hello. Due to the overwhelming number of Lemmings games, each which a great deal of variant platforms in which to be played. I'll be adding Lemmings games on an on-demand basis. If you'd like on to be listed, please let me know here so I can do the necessary research to create a game page. Having a run ready always help. Feel free to post directly in this thread. Thanks.
Due to the overwhelming number of versions of this game, and the fact that they all slightly vary from one another in a number of ways, I will be adding each console as a category on an on-demand basis. If you'd like to run this game on any console not currently listed, please let me know in this thread so I can do the appropriate research to create things correctly.
I forgot to mark [EMU] on some of my runs. Can someone edit that real quick? Sorry for inconvenience.
Hello: http://www.speedrun.com/myth2
So I mod game; set it up but I didn't add the game "game w/o loads" and "in-game timer." Then I submitted my runs. Now to try to accommodate some archived runs from back in the day, I want to add those additional timer settings.
However, if I add them now by editing the game, it defaults the runs I submitted to "time w/o loads," regardless what I make the default timing of the game. However, my runs were "time with loads." I assume this is because the field is attached to the run itself.
Is there a way to add the other two timers and get my runs' times to show up as "time with loads" outside requesting the runs to be deleted, adding all the timers to the options, and then resubmitting the runs to fix it?
Hello. I want to run this game in the near future; but I notice the rules say "- Fastest speed is banned." on both level and full-game leader boards... yet every run listed appears to be in the fastest gameplay speed allowed in the options.
I don't particularly care which way it is myself, I'm just wondering which I should actually be attempting before I put in a great deal of effort.
Thanks.
So, I noticed there is an interest function in DOSBox. One can Speedup or Slowdown "cycles." I don't really know what a "cycle" is necessarily, but the general concept seems to be related to allowing the emulator to use more RAM at a given time or something.
For some games this is useful for cutting out lag. You can basically increase the cycles, and it ensures the game pretty much runs lagless, which is great! For example, increasing the cycles for Lemmings just reduces any lag, though it seems to do fine at 3000 cycles.
However, on other games, such as one I was testing out called Baby Jo in Going Home, the cycles appear to be directly related to the frame rate of the game. Meaning, I can basically speed up the game play infinitely fast (or until the threshold my computer allows).
Well, I was looking at some DOS games, just to see if cycles are mentioned in the rules to get a sense of how this is handled. Is there a way to know what the actual number of cycles is correct for a given old piece of abandonware? Anyone know where this issue has been encountered in a game and how so?
Thanks.
Hey. So, I'm making a list of games I anticipate speedrunning and so forth. One came I am really looking forward to doing is the Jill of the Jungle. When I visit the speedrun.com page for it though, it's a mess.
For clarification:
"Jill of the Jungle is a trilogy of platform computer games released in 1992 by Epic MegaGames. It was intended to rival computer games from other shareware companies such as id Software and Apogee Software. The three episodes in the trilogy are:
Jill of the Jungle Jill Goes Underground Jill Saves the Prince
Though each game was initially released separately, the three were combined into Jill of the Jungle: The Complete Trilogy a year later."
http://www.speedrun.com/jill_of_the_jungle_/full_game
http://www.speedrun.com/jill_of_the_jungle
http://www.speedrun.com/user/DukeNukemFTW
However, in speedrun.com, there's a series called Jill for the Jungle... and under it, just one game. Jill of the Jungle. Within the game, it appears all three games are basically listed within the first game instead of the series. The game is also not marked "The Complete Triology" so it's sort of confusing.
In any case, seeing all of this, I was going to DM the mod and ask if I can clean it up a little bit.. but I noticed something weird.
On the game page, it says all the runs are empty. But on the series page it shows runs for all categories for the game done by the mod, and on the mod profile, it shows the runs as being listed, but again, they are not there on the game page?
I'm just wondering why the runs aren't showing up correctly?
I was just curious how long it generally takes to add a new game or game series. I submitted one almost a week ago, but I haven't heard back. Was just wondering if that is pretty standard for previously unlisted games.
Hello. I have lots of OBS questions, but I've sort of prioritized my questions for more important things first. You can probably guess what the question will be.
I can successfully put the chatbox of Twitch in feed with Window Capture, albeit it's sort of difficult to work with. For example, I can't really zoom in on the text without changing the zoom settings on Chrome in general. But since I do not have two screens to work with at the moment, I can't actually see the chatbox above my game screen in the same I can with my timer. I've noticed some sort streams that have translucent chat boxes. I don't know if they actually see them over their own game or own a separate screen. So, I'm curious how that works. Is that a plugin in OBS that does this? I'm not tech savvy so I wouldn't know, but it seems like the API or whatever could easily been grabbed with a plugin.
Any fingers pointed in the right direction regarding these things would be useful indeed. I thank anyone who might be able to give me some advice on this matter.
Hello. Finally decided to start speed running a 20 year old game that's apparently obscure enough for me to literally never meet another per IRL that has hard of it, despite the fact it was GotY back in 1998.
Just got a new refurbished comp that can handle streaming and recording video; so that's nice.
My OBS stream is still a little amateurish, so I'm hoping I might be able to pick up some tips to make things look less terrible.
In any case, I'm going to speed running various elements of the Myth series for the time being.
Technically this game has been speed ran before, 10 years ago when speed running wasn't quite as centralized as it is now. Unfortunately, I cannot find times or footage of supposedly held records for certain aspects of the game. Although I'm hoping to eventually find some of this stuff, for now I'm curious as to how something like that might work.
Other than that, cheers everyone!
