discussione: Hurdles 2012

I'm looking into now, as far getting some advice from a content mod. Will let you know when I hear back.

discussione: The Site

Guessing Sunday the 27th could be the day.

discussione: The Site

So yeah, I became a mod of this board so I could verify my run a while back. Which, I did. However, there are two categories. They've been there far longer than I've been a mod. There is no discernible way I figure I can tell apart the runs from one category or another.

For some context, here you go: https://www.speedrun.com/gdh2012/full_game

So yeah, I don't really know enough about Windows and keyboards and shit like that to really be verifying any of it. Also, I don't really care enough about this game, or the previous 10 months of issues it's had, so I'd like to unmod myself. The other original supermod, as far as I can determine, hasn't been super active in the past.

Another play is asking to be a mod then since I'd rather not be mod, and other mod has sort of created this board as is, but is no longer here, and it's clearly just... a mess.

In any case, any advice on how to go about this would be appreciated, so thanks.

discussione: Speedrunning

Yea, just look at my runs, and you'll probably find many of those to choose from.

discussione: The Site

Not to pile on or anything, but just noticed notifications appear broken on my end too. This appears to be the case especially with comment likes, and run verification (though I don't believe I've get anything else yet, like a Top 3 in watched game, but obviously probably wouldn't know if the notifications aren't working). Given what others pointed out, just seems like all notifications are currently not working.

There doesn't seem to be any issue with Runs waiting Verification though.

The last time I got a run verification notice was 9 days ago, and I also got a game confirmation. I haven/t submitted anything else (besides self-verification on a new game I just had added) until 2 days ago though. Several runs have been verified in the last two days, but no new notifications.

Hopefully someone had more activity going on in the last few days; that might help determine when the problem started. Cheers.

I've mostly gotten that taken care of because for, at least, the earlier systems, I already know what is generally considered the best emulator for accuracy.

FCEUX 2.2.3 (NES, FDS) SnesX9 1.53 (SNES) BGB 1.5.4 (Though I have Gambette too for Pokemon games) (GB, GBC) VBA 1.8 (GBA only!) Fusion 3.64 (Genesis, Master System, Game Gear, Sega CD) Stella 3.41 (Atari 2600)

Project64 1.7.0.49 is the best N64 emulator I know of, but it's not always accepted as it only accurately plays certain games.

Haven't really got to newer systems yet though. Since they are pretty much hit or miss, hopefully I will able to avoid issues with that once I get some more hardware.

discussione: Talk

Welp, it wasn't in the rules, and I don't typically click to submit a mock run specifically to see if I can click that checkbox, especially for SNES. I do realize now though if there is only one platform and the game AND there is only one region AND emulators are banned, than the platform column on a game doesn't appear (since they would all be the same). That's something I can keep my out for in the future, but it doesn't really apply unless those three things are true. So it's not immediately obvious emulators are banned unless you submit a run all the time.

Tfw you find a game to play, spend some time completing a run, go to submit, emulators banned.

I cleaned my stock keyboard from my old cpu, since I still use it, for the first time in like 9 years, and it was unspeakable.

discussione: Hurdles 2012

I became mod only because no one verified my run.

I have no idea what all the past disputes were about, why there are two categories, or how one could even determine if someone used keys or a mouse.

I'd recommend contacting the original mod, as I have no intention of getting in the middle of the dispute and will likely demod myself.

I've had official GBA releases denied. I've had official DOS/C64 releases denied. Official releases can be denied for being not great games, so it certainly can, and does occur very often for all sorts of web-related games.

discussione: Hatris (NES/FC)

Yea I would expect it would take at least 2 1/2 hours. Well, for me at least. If it got grinded down like Tetris is, no idea how low it could be yet.

discussione: Hatris (NES/FC)

Ah, it appears to are right. Nice looking into it. Well, that's a good thing as you don't have to back out to main menu at all.

59 levels of Hatris. Wow, good luck if you try it.

discussione: Hatris (NES/FC)

And yea, I had "Shops (0-9)" up too. My mistake. It's confusing because on title screen that are "Shops" and "Stages" but once your in game "Stages" are then referred to as "Shops."

discussione: Hatris (NES/FC)

Having kind of picked back up, yes it should definitely say time ends at "Shop 59 Hats 0." I will fix that.

Technically Any% and 100% aren't really applicable here, because as far as I can tell, there is no way to actually beat the game, much like Tetris. I agree with you on this matter. The only reason I have them named as such currently is because is because the GB page was up first, and in these types of situations I tend to follow precedent on stuff like this as much as I can, but I agree it's sort of inaccurate. I don't think them not matching on the NES/GB is this matter seems like an issue, so I'll change to any% as well, though maybe in the future just having "Shop 0" and "Shops 0-5" would be simpler and more appropriate.

discussione: The Site

I don't have any particular interest in this matter, but it seems like if the highscores could be kept on a separate form the speedruns on a same game page (much how the full-game and the level runs have their own section of a game page), then there would be benefit of having both sets of data on the same page, while keeping the boards looking relatively the same. If done like this, would be possible to keep separate stats for high scores and speedruns in the database, which would be good.

Yup, you're good to go.

Sorry, that was a typo.

I'm not going to bar the use of turning battle animations off. If you'd like to run the game with the battle animations on, there is already a category (Arcade) in which the player cannot turn the battle animations off.

Making players wait through cut-scenes that can be skipped on Classic mode doesn't make sense. It's speedrunning. The overwhelming majority of games do not make players sit through additional cut-scenes for the purposes of enjoyment.

I see what open you are referring to now.

Yeah, I'm not barring the use of that, nor am I going to make another category that explicitly bars turning off battle animations. If you'd like to run the game without battle animations, run the arcade category.

I've added the full range of category combinations involving the game since it does seem to attract some interest.

Your second request though seems a little onerous though. This would involving having to reject runs that have already been accepted. But ultimately, preventing players from turning off game play animations on Classic mode, ultimately making game play slower, seems contrary to the purpose of speedrunning.
