I have been practicing a couple of these games for a while via emulator in preparation for submitting a run in the "All Games - Easy" category. In order to help myself learn, I've been following the world records for the Level 1 AI's in all the games as a kind of walkthrough of what to do.
While watching ScraceHamlin's run I noticed that at one point, while the AI's king was in check, the AI chose to move a pawn that didn't help get the king out of check. I have so far been unable to replicate this (I am running on BizHawk if that makes any difference), but it also struck me as a little odd - in regular chess rules (at least the rules I remember) if your king is in check, you must move a piece in such a way that your king is no longer in check. Is there a glitch being executed here that I'm just not picking up on?
I feel like the biggest problem I have with the front news page is that the news area being so big means that the "Most Recent Runs" area can only show so many runs. This area was one of my favorite to browse - it's how I found new games and even just found cool runs to watch. The fact that right now it's only displaying my followed games is honestly not something I'm a fan of.
Could this be a category for ILs as well?
I just recently started practicing this game and I keep seeing people talking about "glitched double jumps," but there's no guide on how to achieve it. How do I go about doing this glitch?
https://www.speedrun.com/micro_platformer/thread/l5x73 This thread contains some info regarding the possibility of that happening.
I'd love to, but I just had a quick question for anyone who might know the answer: is emulation allowed for this game?
Does anyone have a complete list of words and theme categories? Currently trying to go off an old GameFAQS page that doesn't have all the Things words listed.
Hey everyone! I've been lurking on Speedrun.com for a couple of months, but recently decided to start speedrunning old retro games (starting with Anticipation for the NES, will see where we go from there). Runs are done on BizHawk with an Xbox One controller.
I have a couple questions regarding speedrun....etiquette I guess is the word you'd use?

Is it ok if I do a run that's not recorded just to "seed" LiveSplit so I have a time I can work against or should I just record that run and then submit it?

Due to hardware limitations streaming runs is harder for me to do - is just recording the run, uploading to YouTube and then submitting that video allowed?
Thanks! Excited to start my journey into this strange new world!
