In the user.ini file, add "savegame X00" and "loadgame X00" to whichever buttons you want. 100-500 correspond to the second through 6th save files, so if you want do save directly to those you can, I personally use "save/loadgame 900" just so that I can keep the save separate.

As emirp mentioned above, you really aren't allowed to change game files, dxtory is the only option that should be considered for this

Go into your options menu, click and hold the brightness slider (make sure that if you drag your mouse the slider actually moves), hit escape to go back to the game, release the brightness slider, hit escape to go back to the main menu, click the screen

If your'e having trouble installing the game, id suggest asking here https://discord.gg/Q4hatx im not the most knowledgeable for this part of the process, but there are plenty of people here who could certainly help. This would also be a better place to get a solid answer on Virtual Machines

As far as I am aware, the discussion of virtual machines has never really been brought up in the community, so I don't believe any decisions have been made. Assuming that all of the other rules for the game are followed, I don't think there would be any issue in submitting a run utilizing a Virtual Machine. If you want to try to get the game to work on Windows 7+ anyways, id recommend this video:

so, the load removal tool has autosplitter capabilities, and just going into the load removal tool's setting and selecting "automatic split on map change" is sufficient enough to get it to work. However, it ends up being very inconvenient for speedrunning. The autosplitter will split every time the "Loading Game" screen appears and there is no "map whitelist" available for any of the HP games. That being said, if you still want to use the autosplitter while still having a reasonable number of visible splits, you can use subsplits to achieve a decent looking result. Add a split titled "-" for every loading screen that you will encounter in the run that is not one you wish to use as a split and then in your layout settings set subsplits to "always hide subsplits". Just a warning, it's gonna be kinda ridiculous with HP2; you're gonna have nearly 50 splits for the entire run tl:dr don't use them, it's not worth it
