My computer is already on 60hz. But I find out what causes the speed difference, and it's really dumb... The character moves slower when you play on controller instead of keyboard... Guess who didn't play any 3D platformer with a keyboard and will have to relearn the entire game...?
I tried to change the resolution. It didn't change anything.
Hello!
Today I wanted to start my road to WR in Any% category. The thing is, when I started to practice the first level, while watching WR, I quickly realized that something was wrong. I think my game is slower than on WR. I don't know if it's because of the version I use (I play the Stream version), if it's an issue with my computer, etc... But for now, I won't grind this game until I know what is the problem, because I know I can't get the time I think I deserve for now.
To give you an example, here is a clip I've done earlier. It's easy to see that my game is slower, because I need to do 4 jumps to get on the barrel, instead of 3 (even without this "detail", it's easy to see there is something wrong about the speed of the character in my game).
I had this "glitch" 2 times during a stream a week and a half ago. I red that there is a checkpoint system in level 7, and those checkpoints extend in the grass, so you can cut turns a little bit. But 2 times in a row, during some runs, I was too greedy, and I cut the last turn too early, so it didn't validate my lap. Be careful!
If the OOB was discovered after the 100% WR, I guess it makes sense then ^^'
Hello everyone. During my speedruns, I had several questions which spawned in my head, especially after watching 100% speedruns. Since I want to speedrun this category someday, I need some explanations.
- When I first saw the WR, i saw that every tasks on level 2 were done, so I thought you have to do the same thing on every level, but it's not the case, like on level 4 and 8. Why you do have to clear all tasks in this level? Is it faster than take the Kiwi statue, and then performing the OOB? This doesn't sound logical imo.
- This question may be stupid. Is is required for unlocking bonus levels to kill the final boss with the cannon and grab the stamp after the cutscene?
- Obviously, since I can play the Christmas level, I will submit in 100% New Release. But is it advisable, or necessary, to submit in 100% Old Release in this case?
That's it! I may have other questions to ask, but I'll probably keep them for another thread.
If there is differences between the two versions, like movement speed, new content on Switch version, etc... I guess splitting PC version and Switch version would be obvious. (Sadly, I couldn't speedrun the Switch version, because I can't stream my consoles for now xc)
During my first speedrun session on this game, I had this weird glitch on the first level, which just forced me to close the game. I was ready to skip the ending cutscenes after touching the barrel, but I pressed the button too early, and it paused the game. However, for some reason, I still managed to activate the cutscene. It looks like the game didn't like it, and just froze at the very beginning of the cutscene. I tried to pause the game again, maybe the Escape key (I can't remember), but the only solution was to close the game. I don't know if it's a known glitch, but I wanted to share it
I did it for my TAG: The Power of Paint run. I went on my run, and basically I just pressed "edit run", and submit it again without doing any changes (if I'm not mistaken). But it automatically unverified the run. So I had to contact a mod on TAG's Discord to make this run verified again. Thankfully it was pretty quick. Now the problem is fixed for this run, but if I can avoid doing this for every runs I did so far, it would be better tbh. btw, I did the same thing for Super Bernie World, but since I'm a mod on this leaderboard, I automatically verified the runs.
Basically, the only way I found to fix this problem (at least for submissions I posted before this issue appeared), is to ""edit"" submissions. But it makes the runs unverified again... So it's very annoying tbh :/
It has been already few weeks since I started thinking about a "Minimum Coins" category. It's right you can't do a coinless run, at least currently. So I've started to work on every levels, to see which coins you can't avoid. I took some screenshots, but I'll post them after everything is finished. This is the minimum amount of coins for every levels:
1-1: 1 coin 1-2: 0 coin 1-3: 1 coin
2-1: 0 coin 2-2: 2 coins 2-3: 0 coin
3-1: 1 coin 3-2: 0 coin 3-3: 0 coin
4-1: 0 coin 4-2: ??? 4-3: 1 coins
There is still 4-2 which I have no idea how many coins are mandatory. I know that there is 2 coins on the first platforms section, 2 coins on the big jump with 3 coins, and 1 coin on the turtles section. The big problem is the last part of the level. It's very difficult to know which coins are mandatory. Since there is no savestate to use, you have to do the level all over again everytime, and this last part is very complex in itself, with very hard jumps, and the permanent void under your feet. I was so frustrated that I gave up... This is why I asked some help. This is the only part of the game where there is still some missing informations. After this work done, I could create a guide, in which I can post my screenshots of every unavoidable coins, and create the category on the leaderboard (probably in "Misc."). Last thing, I asked few experimented players about a specific rule, and everyone were agree about this rule: If you take an unecessary coin, you can take a death to reset the level. It makes the category much more accessible, and it's logical, since there is an infinite amount of lives.
Yes, I think this change would be better for top level runs.
That's a great idea!
I'm interested, considering I'm still active on this game.
I hope I haven't missed any coin, since there is some hidden coins in level 4-2 (at the top of the level) Total coins : 388 1-1 : 28 coins 1-2 : 29 coins 1-3 : 24 coins 2-1 : 25 coins 2-2 : 29 coins 2-3 : 17 coins 3-1 : 59 coins 3-2 : 38 coins 3-3 : 11 coins 4-1 : 51 coins 4-2 : 53 coins (including 8 hidden coins) 4-3 : 24 coins Don't hesitate to check if I have done any mistake during my counting
I added a new variable named “Speedglitch”. This glitch, that we can see in RSW run, make the game faster (it can be easily seen on some levels of the game). To this day, we don’t know what cause this glitch. Maybe with some testing, we would be able to reproduce it, but it’s not sure for now. The fact is, a run with the speedglitch is hardly beatable even with a very good run, and it can even be impossible. And, as we don't know where it comes from yet, after discussions with RSW and -STAR_fox-, we concluded that create a variable to distinguish run without speedglitch and run with it would be the best solution. Last thing: runs with speedglitch could be hidden by default. I need to discuss about this with RSW. As soon I have his answer, I will change that or not. If we find new things about this glitch, I could post updates here and change the leaderboard consequently.
