In Full game run obviously you can use any items.
In Human campaign run transfered items should be forbidden due to 'new game' common speedrun rule. (However if you've passed Sentinels campaign before you do not need to "clean" your Illidan. Just do not use any transfered items to apply no influence)
By the way nice progress in time! I'm about to make my run and i was pretty sure previously that I can beat your time. But now I'm not :-)
Hello.
I'm interested in running Anno 2205 which is not in the list of games. Is it possible to add it?
World of Warcraft is here: http://www.speedrun.com/wow
I added orc campaign any% and human campaign any% sections. Also, wrote down approximate rules. Let me know if you think we need any specific rules (in case of potential room for bugs/skips/abuses/etc) or if you have any suggestions.
About your run: I think we can subtract 12 seconds from your run as you gain control in ~9-th second of the run and stop timer ~3 seconds after pass the final mission. Not a big deal but why not?:)
Hello,
About categories & rules: Warcraft 1 categories and rules haven't been set so far. The reason is that I'm not really familiar with this game and previous moderator was inactive for a while (so admins decided to remove him). So, if you'd like to fix this and look after wc1 section at all, I think it would be cool.
About timing: In common, RTA-timer starts when you have the opportunity to start playing (gain control first time) and ends as the final mission complete. So, it's better to start timer when mission actually has started rather then on selection. Anyway time may be corrected later, so do not hesitate to make your runs.
About runs: You may definitely start running campaign runs. We'll fix categories, so your runs will not be lost. No need to worry. And good luck!
Yes, you may use 'safety saves' for campaign / full game runs. Just an obvious rule: any and all saves loaded during the run must be created within the same run.
It is highly recommended to use the last version for your runs. While any version is acceptable right now (because there is not too many action) it may be rejected or deflated to misc section later due to some old bugs or balance advantage. So, to avoid any possible disappointments whenever after the last version is the best choice.
P.S. Congratulations with the first full campaign run. There are some people running single missions in roc and i'm working under sentinels campaign in tft, but you've taken the lead :)
As a common answer about 'dead' categories in level section:
-
I think level section is mostly for training/practice/discussion/matching etc. It's like a step to campaigns/full game runs which make it easier to make the entire run. So, there is not a real problem if some of the missions will be optimized up to the limit. For example, hard to imagine how to seriously improve Prologue (1), Human (1) & (3).
-
It will be a little bit weird if we have leaderboard for Human (4) and Human (6) mission, but not to the Human (5) which you still need to run in the full campaign run.
Specifically to Human (5) mission: I've never made any serious attemts, but pretty sure that PeruVi3N is right. You can pass the mission earlier than 30 minutes if you destroy all undead buildings. I think it can be done in less than 20 minutes. However, it's an optional strategy (you can upload successful runs with any time if you want to).
About wrong category upload: probably you can delete this run. I verified correct category upload duplicate. Pay attention that cutting video before mission ends is a bad idea. It looks like unfinished run to the viewers and harder to check. The best way is to keep in record both download and final screens.

Try resolution 16:9 instead of 4:3. I remember some problems with 4:3 resolution in OBS which lead to black screen records without scaling. Don't know why, but scaling solve this problem. So, you maybe should try that too.
For myself I choose to use 16:9 because black bars are not that critical and later I want to use this space for timer in the left part of the screen (when run full campaign with splits)
I use OBS (v.0.651b) and have no problems now. But it seems to me that I have something like that before. Try to create a new profile/scenes/source, check settings which you change from default.

Fixed, thank you.
PeruVi3N (as we don't have private messages :()
I verify your run. But for future runs or improvments: it's a bad idea to cut video befote 'main quest completed' text appears. I know that you pass the mission but that's not obvious for everyone. Actually, better cut at the final screen
As I filled up categories, please reupload your run to the game category (Prologue campaign). I can not move level run to the game section.

I've updated time of your run to 11:03 (starts ~ at 00:11 and ends ~ at 11:14) Hope it's correct.
As a common rule for speedruning - RTA (real time). So, timer starts when you gain control over units first time (after loading and skipping first cutscene) and ends when you finish campaign/mission/game. It is not necessary to show timer on video, but may be easy and informative for potential viewers.
In game timer provides many problems such as pauses, loads, slowing and others.
I haven't updated (formalized) rules for RoC because there was nobody who was interested in running. Personally I planed only TFT. You may check TFT page to see how it should be.
As we have some people there I'll fix RoC categories soon.
The main questions are about game version and timing. As for me it's logical to make runs on the same and latest version. As for time - should it be in-game timer (which shown in the end of each mission) or RTA? If RTA when is to start and end timer? Single segmented or segmented by mission? Saves allowed? If so, there should be an obvious rule that all saves used in run should be made within the same run earlier.
I'm not sure if there should be some particular/specific rules. Don't know about critical bugs for wc3 that will make running meaningless.
P.S. Where should I initially start this conversation?:)
Want ask a question about warcraft series (maybe this is not right thread, but have not founded better one) The series have only 1 mod who was last online 1 month ago. There are no rules or any instrouctions, no accepted runs for any category. I want to make the first run. Think, speedruning of wc3 could be pretty interesting. But don't want to routing, training and running if it will not be accepted in anyway. So, want to find out rules, timing, etc.
