Introducing the new Game Settings page for Game Moderators! This area has been rewritten with clarity in mind - especially focusing on category/variable management which now contains explanations every step of the way.
Here's an overview of the General tab
Also featured - Run Management! Search through runs by Moderator, Runner, or Verification Status!
We also know mods are excited for 1-to-many variable mapping. Rest assured, this is still coming and will be implemented. However, we need to transition away from the old PHP website first. Luckily, we're doing that next week, allowing us to start developing advanced mod tools!
Introducing a new way to view WR Histories! While viewing any category/sub-category combination, simply press the “History” button to view, and press again to make it disappear! We’ve also polished the chart view, which can still be found under the stats tab on any leaderboard :)
Hey everybody!
Earlier today we posted some tweets, and I've personally been discussing with some people over in Discord this afternoon.
As said in the title, we're launching a new and updated Speedrun site next week, the result of nearly a year's work to address major bugs, improve features, and make the website more accessible to everyone. I'm gonna be posting all the same details I've posted on Twitter inside this thread as well for those of you who don't have Twitter or aren't in our Discord :)
For now, gonna keep this thread locked just until I can get all the feature details posted at which point I'll unlock it so we can discuss - but of course feel free to discuss beforehand as well!
P.S. Thread is now unlocked! Site is being released soon :)
Currently going for sub-hour in Trepang, just got a 1:05 https://speedrun.com/trepang2/run/m3qll04y
Update on this: in runs using 107 skip, time will end on the loading screen but on runs not using 107 skip like this one time will end on the final cutscene instead - just like you timed it here pretty much :)
The event has now concluded! It was an incredible journey, and we hope you all had a blast participating. It's with great pleasure we reveal the top 23 winners of the Oblivion Override 10k Speedrun Challenge!
If you're on this list, congratulations you've won a prize! Keep your Discord ID and account synced here on Speedrun.com, as the developers of Oblivion Override will be reaching out to you via DM. Prizes will be delivered starting next week. If you encounter any issues, you can contact the developers on the Discord server or DM Oblivion Boy#4656 directly.
Once again, congratulations to all the winners, and a big GG's and WP to everyone who took part!!

@Daravae Aside from potential storage costs, there are also some moderation/legal concerns surrounding potentially inappropriate content. Of course, this is a concern regardless of whether it's an embedded image or one that we host ourselves - but the legal burden increases significantly if we host the content ourselves.
With that said, I just spoke to @Camcorder about this and he confirmed we will be adding support for image hosting for guides (alongside other improvements) in upcoming updates!
Here's a chart I rely on for determining a good bitrate
Keeping in mind, the game is also an important factor. Slow-paced puzzle games with minimalistic graphics can get away with a far lower bitrate to get good quality than a fast-paced game with lots of particle effects or something.
I find this chart tends to favor the best case scenario, so if your content has a lot of fast-moving stuff on screen I suggest increasing the bitrate by like 25%
New article is up about the recent Imgur announcement, TLDR some guides or forum posts with embedded images on SRC may be affected.

Also, if you believe there is another service you would recommend over the ones I’ve put in the article here - please let me know :) We can open a discussion about what best alternatives there are, and perhaps I’ll make some edits to the article.
Update on how active players is calculated:
It's actually as simple as all registered & unregistered (those without an account) runners for full game & individual levels in the last 60 days
Previously, active players were calculated with only registered runners on full game only in the last 30 days - there were also apparently some other arbitrary restrictions.
This may not be the final form of the active player algorithm, but it's how it is right now :) Always open to making tweaks
Hey everyone :)
You may have noticed the numbers on the /games page are significantly higher than they were just yesterday.
As it turns out, the old algorithm to determine Active Players did not account for IL runners (and some other stuff) - this has now been fixed!
You will also notice that player stats will match up between the /games page and any respective leaderboard :)
Enjoy your weekend everybody!
