Time runs the same that you would on a SNES or emulator. Timing starts on the frame mario appears (2.2 seconds after you click 1 player game) and ends when either the category says it ends, or on the frame that peach appears.
It's worth noting that A2 only appears on the Japanese version iirc. The US version caps it at 96, and I believe the PAL version does too, but I'm not that familiar with it.
no starworld is another viable option, but i do believe that all castles is a more fun category
all castles is another fun category to run! it's a little longer, however
I haven't used emu in forever. If you can get the PAL rom to run a 60fps it should be fine. However, I've only ever done it on everdrive.
11 exit was the any% category and then 0 exit existed so we scrapped percents for # of exits as it stands: 0 exit is any% credits warp 11 exit is any% actually play the game no starworld is any% warpless 96 exit is 100%
people are saying this is stupid because its arbitary. you know what else is arbitrary? obroe% switch the yoshi 6 orbs 1 yump
if we can get 1 yump on the leaderboard then there is no reason we can't have a stupid category like kill yoshi on it.
iirc you can only run pal on ntsc categories on everdrive. however, you should be able to run pal natively in 50fps on snes9x with the pal rom. there may be a way to do pal on ntsc on emu, but idk
