The problem with your run wasn't that you didn't have a timer. The problem was you didn't have the "Speedrun Timer" option enabled. If you go to options then GAME the option is at the bottom

but I could be wrong because I have never experienced lag that bad

if you turn on the ingame timer it should slow down with your game giving you the correct time
