Chicago, IL, USAHello fellow speedrunners! I've been a gamer all my life since my dad brought home a NES when I was 5. I never thought about getting into speedrunning until a few years ago when I stumbled across Summoning Salt's YouTube channel. I was captivated by his videos and the idea of trying out speedrunning. Finally, about a month ago I finally decided to take the plunge and started getting everything set up and ordered that I would need.
As far as goals, I grew up with the all the oldest consoles so I don't plan on doing runs on anything except the NES to start with but I might branch out in the future to SNES or Genesis if I stick with it for a while. It's kind of a funny story, but when I was about 6 or 7 my folks had me play the Adventures of LOLO for the NES for schoolwork because they knew that it would help me develop puzzle solving/critical thinking skills. It seemed a fitting choice for my first game to try speedrunning since I've always had an affinity for puzzles from playing this game as a kid.
If anyone has a moment to answer, I actually have a quick question I was hoping to get answered. I've already submitted my first run for this game and am currently waiting for it to be reviewed. Is it considered bad taste or not allowed to submit another run with a better time before the first run is even approved? I'm not in a rush or being impatient at all with this matter. I'm simply trying to figure out if it's normal to have a backlog of run(s) with better times that I have to wait to upload one at a time after the previous run is approved. Sorry if I missed a rule somewhere about this but I looked around for a bit and couldn't find anything about it. Thanks and happy speedrunning everyone!
