That's one of the reasons I applied to be a mod for this game. I'm not busy with anything for quite a few months.

I'm not trying to beg for me personally, but please consider another mod to work with you, as Ewaller is not checking this site enough.

This game has been out for too long to change any rules of any category at all...

Once you start a new file, the game saves automatically after the intro cutscene, so if you feel like you messed up anywhere, the file is already created for you to start over.

As I'm hoping you are aware, RTA for Individual World runs, timing starts on the input when you move across the map, and not on the file select screen... In fact it's like that with every category.

Also, if you are doing a world that isn't W1, just save after when you enter the next world. That way it's easier to set up.

I've actually been testing that land canceling thing...

So the momentum is there and it is faster than normal running speed. However, it goes back down to normal speed after the first two or three jumps. If you also manage to get a triple jump while doing the land canceling trick, mario will stop running completely, as if it's the stopping edge on 1-4 right before the flag, even though there is no real edge to stop you during the trick.

But I haven't tried it with a Giant Mushroom yet... Guess I should get to that haha :P

That's actually not off topic at all.

So what you're saying is: Land canceling is similar to the SMB3 method of sliding down a hill and jumping to keep your momentum?

I've actually had it happen where fireballs will jump over small enemies such as Goombas and Koopas, It always pisses me off when it happens lol...

I've only ever had the flawless mid-stair on 1-2 Normal Exit. It's extremely hard to do, and it's not worth the 1 second IRT to try to avoid it, unless there's a consistent trick to it.

Double and triple jumps are canceled when you land on an enemy. The double and triple jump off enemies was introduced in NSMB Wii.

There's also really no reason to double / triple jump without running, so that's out of the question LOL

Landing on a switch and not activating it seems to happen to me a lot when I'm not careful.

8-Castle trick before the thwomp hits you? Yeah that's hard, I just choose to damage boost through that instead of a different place.

I'm able to very consistent double and even triple jumps with the shell, and it's very useful for levels like 5-1 and 5-3 in some places, which allows me to finish the level about one full second IGT earlier in each level.

I know that it's also possible to run under the shelled monsters with the horn (narwahls?) in 5-3, if you duck at the perfect time right before, because they jump up right before they start charging at you. I think that's close to a frame perfect trick, which means, if 8-3 wasn't a factor in Any%, the shell would be useless after 1-Cannon.

I have trouble getting consistent vertical wall jumps with mini mario however, what's the trick to it? Or is it RNG? Could explain how it's actually done? I'm thinking that it's supposed to be neutral on the D-Pad right when you hit the wall, or maybe Mini Mario just clips into the wall which allows it?

So I have a relatively technical question (might add another later.)

I'm not quite sure of the answer to this... I would like to know what the frame rate of this game is? I would think it's 30FPS just because it's a relatively pixely game, frame perfect tricks aren't too hard to do, hit boxes aren't exactly the best, etc...

Or am I wrong? Could it be 60FPS?

So, IL's are pretty new. I get that. But we're ALREADY having runs being posted where:

  1. The person (Lets face it, so far only one person has posted IL runs [I'll still keep them nameless, for the sake of not actually calling somebody out]) is starting with the Acorn Power Up, which does give a slight speed advantage over what the rules state are allowed.

  2. The person is still posting the times, even without video proof.

SOOO... If I may suggest, it should be a requirement to have video proof that you are following all the rules correctly, and to remove the rule about not being allowed to start with a power up if the level doesn't provide it. It should be possible to 100% ANY level with the power up provided in the levels, whether or not it's faster with the acorn, as otherwise, it doesn't live up to it's predecessor; NSMB Wii, and alternate game; NSMB U.

Also, posting pictures and posting them as screen shots is a very easy way to get around not needing a video, as you could easily take the world record (specifically of the 100% run) and screen shot that part of the video at the end of the level.

Could we have that happen, as well as removing all the runs that don't have video proof?

The two levels in the Haunted Forest section of the Soda Jungle are impossible to pass without doing a secret exit, which is what would make the category invalid. Posting the rule to allow those would kinda fix it, but it seems redundant.

So, the solution should be re-naming the category to "All Castles" which requires you to go through EVERY world as fast as possible (yes secret exits are allowed), and skipping the first air ship is also allowed, as it's not considered a castle.

OK so now can we make IL rules clear? I suggest looking at NSMB Wii rules and using those for this.

Starting only as small mario (or with a mushroom) and the only powerups allowed to be used are the ones collected throughout the level.

In NSL U, the rules were set like this. They also added the fact that if the level doesn't provide the appropriate power up to 100% the level then that's the only time you are allowed to start with it.

Can we do that? and possibly remove the runs that break this rule?

I've found that run that I was looking for. But I was actually looking for every castle in the run, so adding the category would be cool (Even as a misc).

The fastest recorded time by Hard Pelicn:

Spades has a faster time but has no video of it.

IMO having the same ruleset as NSMB Wii seems to be the most logical. Starting with no powerup (and no mushroom optionally).

And doing IRT: Starting when level is selected and ending when you hit the flagpole.

A third category could be added into the IL's, where you are allowed to start with power ups.

Also, I think it should be the same rule set with NSMB U

IGT time is usually not accurate. Having the same rules that NSMB Wii abides by is actually more sensible.

You don't even need a capture card, you just need something to record with, I use my laptop camera when doing NSMB Wii, and they accepted the four world records I posted. As long as it's also timed accurately (during the run with a timer you have on you, and after re watching the recording you made) there shouldn't be any problem.

He has every right to do whatever he wishes now as a moderator, and out of an attempt of respect towards you, you shouldn't have to tell him what to do.

I Know the game, and I'm running it (currently un recorded, so not posting).

I should rephrase what I said: I am strengthening my skill in those games. I've memorized DS and Wii (all categories). Maybe Wii does have active mods, I've tried contacting and got nothing back personally.

Wii U needs somebody to just accept runs, and maybe add categories, which I am actually knowledgeable of, and I do check the website every day. This applies to NSMB U and NSL U.

(Also, I've applied following all the standards, and without bashing anybody about not having enough experience...)

So idk if the most updated doc is clear (I just read it):

Go through W1 Any%, defeat the boss

Take secret exit in 2-3 to access 2-A

Use the spinning platform glitch (let go of the D-Pad when you launch), and take the pipe on top at the end of the level to the secret exit, which allows you to access the cannon to W5

In 5-2, take the secret exit, just like in normal Any%

In 5-Ghost House, take the elevator that you can only access via a door, which will take you to the secret exit to access the cannon

Ofcourse, take the cannon to W8

8-1 Hold R button and run through jumping when necessary (Holding R the whole time allows the birds to swoop down in an area where you can actually avoid them, if you do the level correctly

8-Tower use IL strategies (which is actually faster to do with no power up)

8-3 When you run into the bubble streams, let go of the D-Pad to allow the speed boost from the bubbles to last longer

8-Tower2 Don't even think about that death trick... for obvious reasons.

Complete bowsers castle

It's not a full on extensive guide, it's just the main strategies of the route really.

Hello, I'm posting here because I would like to request Moderatorship for three to four games of the same series. New Super Mario Bros. - The DS version - I run this game New Super Mario Bros .Wii - I run this game New Super Mario Bros. U - I am learning this game New Super Luigi U - I am learning this game

The reason I am requesting to be moderated is because there are inactive moderators in NSMB Wii, NSMB U, and NSL U, of which I have attempted to contact and have gotten no response in all forms of contact I have tried.

NSMB DS is optional, but has only two moderators, and I feel another would be necessary.

So uh... Please? <3

It's definitely not marathon safe to even try for the red block on 1-2, but it does happen sometimes.

The thing is, I would actually recommend using Luigi when trying to get the red block to 1-Tower. I'm not sure what the deal is with that, but I seem to get it to appear there a bit more often when I play as the green one :P

Could somebody actually test that out to see if it has any difference?
