If you have the interview scheduled for 12:00 (any day) and the time's at, say, 02:00 A.M. (same day as interview) and you're on a mission and die, you'll respawn at 12:00 with the interview available, as expected. You'll also be able to restart the mission, like always. If you restart the mission, you'll be back at 02:00. If you finish the mission, let's say at 03:00, the interview will suddenly be available at that time. Not sure how long it will stay available. This is some sort of a glitch I accidentally found. It may or may not be on the wikis. I would assume it works with other scheduled events, but I've never tested anything else.

Ignore the first mission fail, I was attempting to die.

If we got rid of the categories and put in those variables, I feel it'd hurt the organization. If these boards were filled, someone could currently go straight to the level and category they want to know more about. That would be a bit more difficult to do if they had to scan a list of times and find the fastest with the correct variables.

The wording will be modified over time, but as of now, it gets the point across. The current wording may sound strict, but it's not meant to sound THAT strict. No one will ever be forced to grind out an IL to save a few seconds before their run will be accepted. When I say "clearly", I mean "it was clearly faster to use mission skips in this Any% attempt" or "it was clearly faster to call a cab to take you across the city than to drive".

The whole point is to get people to realize that if they're taking the time to do ILs, do it at least 95% "properly routed and/or executed". Also, the first post in this thread has had an updated version of what's in the post above yours for about a day now, if you didn't know.

Very risky to go into the final mission without armor and/or very little health. Slower to get the armor in the restaurant, but it's worth it. Preserving armor beforehand would also work, but that can be tricky. Regardless, this video shows how to handle these missions as best I know at the moment. Video warp after completing the final mission.

Please only submit times under Any% for everything other than missions on the IL leaderboard. Technically there shouldn't be an Any% NMS and Classic% category for things like triathlons and races, but we're forced to keep them there because of the way things are set up on this website, for the time being.

This is good use of money. As for the rest, I agree with what S suggested.

Just got a 4:33:2x. My sum of best is 4:12:20 (now it's 99% accurate). I still stand by my belief that sub 4:10 will never happen without currently unknown glitch/bug abuse. 6-8 minutes lost due to mistakes (not considering the wedding calls issue). Sub 4:20 will happen when the wedding calls are figured out.

Splits: https://splits.io/60y

I thought I had figured out the wedding calls as I did many tests a few weeks ago which brought me to the conclusion that you first need to receive the call from UL Paper which begins with something like "So, I hear you've found Bernie". This part is true, you do need this call before any of the wedding calls can come in. My testing began just after completing "Weekend At Florian's" and showed that after getting this call, you need to wait 7 in-game hours to get the first wedding call. Then, you need to wait another 7 for the next, and so on. If I waited 14, the first call would come in, but I would still need to wait another 7 for the next. I did this over and over again and the results were consistent. Kate's wedding call is unique though. In order to get the final call (Kate's), you need to have received the three, completed Undertaker, completed Payback, completed Paper Trail, and at least one other mission (which at this time I haven't determined). I'm going to do some more testing for this. The confusing part is that the way this works just after getting the call from UL Paper, isn't the way it works later on in the game, or so it seems. Many in game days had passed after getting the needed call from UL Paper, but I wasn't receiving the first wedding call, even when no other calls were in the queue. I need to finalize the testing for Kate's call and then figure out why the required wait time seems to change after a certain point in the game.

Every other call which has ever caused issues is now figured out. A few more entries need to be made to the other thread.

https://splits.io/5zn (missing an EOM death [end of mission death (intentional)] on Shadow and Dust Off) (Paper Trail occurs between TLC and Smackdown)

Here are "my" splits from the other day. The run began to die at Union Drive, then I failed multiple missions over and over again as I pretty much gave up. So, what I'm saying is these aren't "real" splits. From Union Drive on, it's built from the segment times of my 4:50:xx run. Major time loss at Undertaker, Union Drive, and pre That Special Someone (phonecalls) due to poor execution in the 4:50:xx run (which the final splits are built from). This uses a pretty great route and extensive planning. It will see minor improvements over time, but there really isn't room for major changes which would ever make sub 4:10 realistically achievable without game/mission breaking bug/glitch abuse. What I'm saying is, a sub 4:20 is an incredibly good time. I know I can get sub 4:30. At that time, it will be much easier to understand the route and plan with a video rather than through a document.

The sum of my best splits is 4:16:26. Mostly accurate, but inaccuracies definitely don't put it over 4:20, actually most push it closer to sub 4:10 due to many of these best segments being blank before this recent attempt.

Masks and Boiler Suits use the results screen stat time because "they're memes", as Ryedawg would say. We might change their timing to first frame of that text which shows up at the bottom which tells you to buy the items, to the first frame of "Mission Passed", but this would require extremely precise timing as everyone would have nearly the same times and I really don't want to bother with downloading and then opening people's Mask and Boiler Suit videos in a video editing program, just to get the exact timing down to the milliseconds. It's much better just to see who can pull off 3 second purchases and wait for that person to come along and get a 2 second. Much better to put these two levels in their own realm than bother with these timing challenges.

Everything else is timed from the first frame of whatever starts off the mission when they're started through mission replay and ends either at the first frame of "Mission Passed" or, if this doesn't appear, the first frame after the final loss of control of your character (how Prologue is done).

BTW, you don't have to remove a submission if you're making a new submission with a better time.

Suggestion: Add an option for a series to not list IL times in the "Latest Runs" section. The GTA series' latest runs are being eaten up by all of the IL submissions for GTA V.

discussione: Grand Theft Auto V

^ Manually timed from the first frame of the cutscene up to the first frame of "Mission Passed" (RTA "real time attack). This is the time you submit. The only missions which use the time on the end screen are Boiler Suits and Masks. For those we'll use the time listed next to "Quick Shopper" because they're so short and the whole point is to buy items.

I've had to edit submission times for many of the submissions thus far because they were incorrectly timed. Refer to the first post in this thread for more info.

discussione: Grand Theft Auto V
United StatesKyle10 years ago

Reminder: All missions are manually timed (RTA). If a mission has a results screen, it will be timed from the first frame following a loading screen (this first frame may be the start to a cutscene) up to the first frame of the results screen. If a mission doesn't end with a results screen, e.g., "Prologue", then the runners of the game should decide how these missions should be timed. Timing info should be placed under the rules section for these ILs.

(If a mission begins with a cutscene, your video must start before this cutscene begins or start with the first frame of the cutscene. If a mission doesn't begin with a cutscene, your video must start before gaining control (fade in). If a mission ends with a results screen, your video must end after the gold text stating "Mission Passed" has appeared. If a mission doesn't end with a results screen, your video must end after you've regained control.)

The decision is to allow skipping normally unskippable cutscenes after a conversation in Zoton's chat, so those runs will be verified. BTW, the game is weird as it doesn't allow skipping mid mission cutscenes during "Chop" when you replay it through the menu which makes me think the only mission that this works on is Prologue. I don't get how they came to this decision. Regardless, it's allowed.

discussione: Grand Theft Auto V
United StatesKyle10 years ago

EDIT: After I posted what's below, I realized this is only making things overly complicated ¤UNLESS¤ only a handful of missions or less have these sort of mid mission cutscenes. If you really care about an IL WR, you have to get it in your head that you may not be able to achieve the time during a semi/full run. Still, post your thoughts.

I don't think skipping mid mission cutscenes should be allowed during ILs. An example would be during Prologue. I believe this can only be done if you start it up through mission replay. Which other missions have mid mission cutscenes which become skippable only if you start the mission through replay? Some mid mission cutscenes are already skippable even without starting the mission through replay, e.g., the garage door scene in Repossession. The reason for not allowing this would be because you aren't able to skip these cutscenes during an actual run. Those of you going for Prologue times should just start a new game and restart the mission upon a mission fail or by just hitting new game in the menu. It requires very little effort to do. As for other missions, just don't skip the cutscenes which would not be skippable in a semi/full run. It's very early on, so it's best this is done now. If people agree then ILs which skipped normally unskippable cutscenes will be backrolled (there's no more than 3 EDIT: or none because it looks like they've disappeared).

Also, when you start a mission through replay, does the first cutscene never play? Some missions have no opening cutscenes, but many do, e.g., Chop starts off with a cutscene showing Franklin hiding from his aunt. If I start Chop through the replay feature, is this cutscene automatically skipped?

I don't see where the confusion lies. You understand the value of ILs, but fail to see how Any% ILs could be valuable for the Any% category, and likely the other categories as well?

"Paper Trail" (nothing new here, basically what Dispersor's Classic% info page says)

After completing "Dust Off", wait 11 hours and you'll get a call from UL Paper which triggers "Paper Trail".

You cannot call UL Paper to trigger this mission. If you miss the call, you cannot call UL Paper back to trigger it. You must wait for them to call you back which should happen in one or two call cycles.

"Out of the Closet Part 2" (the day of the week has no effect on the date)

-French Tom's reply-

You would think the reply would show up in your inbox once a very specific amount of time has passed after either sending the request (with Lovemeet) or completing "Out of the Closet", but this isn't the case. The reply can show up as early as 8 hours and as late as 12 hours and 15 minutes after completing "Out Of The Closet pt.1".

Example: Complete OotC pt.1 @ xx:39, the email will come in at xx+8+rnd:45, where 'rnd' will be 0-4 hours and 45 because it rounds to the next quarter hour.

-Once his email is available in your inbox-

So, if his reply is waiting in your inbox, but you've yet to use an in-game computer (any non-police computer), you can completely control what time the original date will be for (out of the four possible times), and here's how it works: *It has to do with when you click "Web" on the first screen on any non-police computer, even the computer in the house that you access during "Wrong Is Right". "You mean I can affect the date by using a computer that's only accessible (w/o glitches) during a mission? A computer which doesn't even have access to my emails?!" Yes, that's exactly right. You don't even have to proceed into the emails. It's just from clicking "Web".

If "Web" is clicked between 06:00-09:59, the date will forever be for 12:00 in the email. If "Web" is clicked between 10:00-15:59, the date will forever be for 18:00 in the email. If "Web" is clicked between 16:00-21:59, the date will forever be for 00:00 in the email. If "Web" is clicked between 22:00-05:59, the date will forever be for 08:00 in the email.

And, no, video warping and/or dying will NOT wipe the slate clean and allow you to get a different date time if you go back and click "Web". You're stuck with what you originally caused. *

-The actual date, at the diner-

French Tom will be waiting at the diner -03:00 hours ahead of the scheduled time and will remain until +03:05 after the scheduled time. The heart marker may not appear due to completing a mission between appointment reminder times (the first is -03:00 hours ahead of the scheduled time, the second is -02:00 hours, and the last is -00:30 minutes), but pay no attention to this as it has zero effect on anything other than requiring you to place a marker. If you're not in a mission when a reminder happens, then the heart marker will appear.

Example (for an 18:00 date): If you arrive at the diner before 15:00, nothing will happen. If you stand at the diner until 15:00, the mission will be begin the moment the clock strikes 15:00, and you'll be told French Tom hasn't arrived. This means once you enter the diner, you'll have to sit through a 20 second cutscene before you're able to stand up and kill him.

If you arrive at the diner between 15:00 - 21:05, he will have arrived and you won't have to deal with the cutscene UNLESS you approach the table. If you shoot him from the doorway, you can complete the mission, but there's a chance you'll gain a wanted level. You'll never get a wanted level if you kill him with the knife or bat, but you'll trigger the cutscene if you get close enough to use these weapons.

WARNING! (still using an 18:00 date as an example) Don't screw yourself with a taxi warp time progression in relation to taxiing to the diner. If your taxi warp time progression crosses you into the 15:00 hour, you'll be told French Tom has yet to arrive and you'll have to sit through the cutscene.

Example: Time reaches 14:55, heart marker (date) hasn't appeared, cab to a marker at the diner (the time is 14:57 before cabbing), time has progressed to 15:27 upon arriving, you're told French Tom hasn't arrived.

-Missing the date- (starting with an 18:00 date)

Once the clock reaches 21:06, you're told you've missed the date. You automatically call Brucie 10 seconds later to inform him. 30 seconds later, you'll get a text from French Tom which sets up a new date for 00:00 (2 1/2 hours later). This date's window is 21:00 - 03:05.

If you miss the midnight date, the same exact scenario plays out. A new date will be set up for 08:00 (~5 hours later). This date's window is 05:00 - 11:05.

If you miss the 08:00 date, the next date will be set for 18:00 and it will continue to loop like this until you complete the date.

Added.
It's mostly just triple suicide and done right?
There's still plenty of segments that you play out and each segment has an optimal way to fail. IL leaderboards show how to optimally complete the mission, even if what's being done isn't necessarily what you'd be using or pulling off in a full run. The point is to determine how close you can come to what's done in the IL, in the actual run. If IL running became massively popular, you'd 100% guaranteed see changes being made in full runs, based off the IL.

discussione: Grand Theft Auto IV
United StatesKyle10 years ago

BTW, you can pass the time needed however you want. Dying between 00:00 - 12:00, sleeping, pay n spray, and waiting in real time (2 seconds == 1 in-game minute) all will work to pass the time. You aren't limited sitting around, if anyone was confused.
