Cool opinion. They've got it set up this way for a reason. Just because it's not the way you like it doesn't mean the situation you described isn't covered. External cheating devices are still against the rules even if you have to click a link to read the full rules.

Maybe you could go harass the mods at https://www.speedrun.com/darksouls since they do the same thing!

Yes, it does. There's a link to General Rules and it's number 6 on there. Also, imagine allowing SOME gameshark cheats but not the ones that are TOO fast.

I don't think anybody genuinely believes that would've counted. A speedrun of a 1v1 game should imply that you're winning, but in case it wasn't clear I've added it to the rules.

These still aren't examples of games where they're allowed by default. There also aren't very many rulesets that tell you that you can't use a gameshark or you can't use savestates on emulator, it's implied. In game cheat codes usually fall into that as well.

I'm not saying that sentence shouldn't be in the rules, it is probably best practice to do that, otherwise you'll waste one person's time having them do a run with them just to have it rejected and added to the rules anyway.

I can't think of any games off the top of my head where cheat codes are allowed by default. I've written rules for games excluding stating it. Unless specified in the rules that they are allowed, I'd just assume they're not. Good info on the 3D accel though @pnaha
